"Unity for Web Games"
What do you like best about Unity?

I wanted to write up a small review from the perspective of someone who uses Unity mainly for creating web games. With a background in Flash games in years past, in that respect, Unity's felt like the most natural "next Flash". It features many more out-of-the-box features than Flash did for game development (i.e. tools for 2D and 3D dev, great compatibility with existing visual design tools and IDEs, nuanced debugging and performance tools), and the vast number of platforms it can be ported to is impressive. Also, Unity's support for multiple coding languages is appreciated! Lastly, while it wouldn't be used much in the realm of web games, Unity's support for the latest in graphics tech (i.e. ray tracing) is appreciated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

For someone transitioning from simpler tools like Flash, Unity can be daunting. There are many, many more options to consider, and the tools at your disposal may not make sense at first (i.e. understanding why there's one tool called an Animator, and one called Animation Controller). 2 major additional sources of frustration from a person with a background in Flash are A) Unity's lack of support for vectors, and B) Unity's lack of compatibility with previous versions. Regarding A, especially for 2D development, it can be difficult to adjust from the crisp, naturally clean graphics of vectors to needing to accommodate different filtering techniques, texture sizes, texture sheets, etc. for Unity's raster-dependent visual tools. For B, one of Flash's greatest strengths was being confident that a 10+ year old .fla would still be compatible with the newest version of Flash (at least until CS5.5 stepped in!). With Unity, unfortunately, I've re-opened projects only a few months old in new versions of Unity and run into compatibility errors. Lastly, even after making optimizations, Unity's in-browser games often run poorly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the coolest gaming engine to get your hands on"
What do you like best about Unity?

Its user interface is very good, which helps a lot when you are in the early stage of learning. C# support is very good as it is a good language to learn. They are literally releasing new versions every month with bug fixing and new features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

The graphics quality and rendering pipeline are of less quality as compared to Unreal Engine. Visual Scripting is not that much good as expected. And their particle effects is also okaish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome Engine"
What do you like best about Unity?

It takes no time to learn, understand and set up unity and create small projects to understand what are things are needed to complete the tasks that are required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unity?

There is a lot of clutter when working with codes and objects in a larger project, although with the correct setup, you can overcome that issue. Sometimes working with complex objects can be a mess. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
