The Celo Foundation is excited to announce the launch of Nightfall, an open-source zero-knowledge privacy layer built by EY, now live as a Layer 3 on the Celo network. This marks the first payments-focused blockchain deployment of Nightfall, extending Celo’s reach from consumer and P2P transactions to enterprise B2B payments—a sector projected to surpass $180T in cross-border flows. Nightfall leverages zero-knowledge proofs and ZK-ZK rollups to enable private, auditable transactions across multiple token standards at a fraction of conventional costs. By bringing confidentiality to public blockchain infrastructure, it unlocks new possibilities for B2B payments, supply chain finance, and other enterprise use cases where privacy and efficiency are critical.
