Mapping the seafloor is no easy feat. Terradepth is a long-time Cesium user, their autonomous underwater vehicles collect vast amounts of 3D seabed data hosted on Cesium ion Self-Hosted and streamed to their CesiumJS app, Absolute Ocean. Detail in ocean data varies: 500 meter resolution from satellite, 50-100 m resolution from a ship, and 5 cm resolution from a robot near the seafloor, where human safety is questionable or even impossible. Terradepth collects terabytes of data. Instead of waiting weeks or months for it to become available, using Cesium Tilers at the edge, users have almost immediate access and can, for example, recognize geographic physical features, identify human-made objects like sunken wrecks or unexploded ordnance, and observe change in the seafloor over time. Learn more about Terradepth's work and also check out their Cesium Developer Conference 2025 talk by Andrew Lunstad here: https://lnkd.in/erg7mgW5

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟯𝗗 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀? I’ve been experimenting with running SQL style queries on design models by using the iTwin Platform with Cesium. It’s been helpful for answering practical questions like: 🏨 What elements are on Level 3? 🏗️ How much concrete is in the structural components? 📐 What’s the surface area of internal walls? 🔍 How do I zoom to a specific element in my design? It sure beats manually clicking through individual elements one by one to find the metadata I need. Better yet it doesn't matter what part of my 3D Tiles are actually loaded in my viewport - I can even be in orbit and zoom straight to the results! 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 — 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀? Throw me some challenges below 👇 and I might try to prototype some!

Cesium ion SaaS and Cesium ion Self-Hosted utilize containers to provide Cesium ion. At the heart of any container is the base image, and Cesium updated base images to use the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Universal Base Image as deployed by Iron Bank (DoD Platform One). Why we use containers, how we mitigate CVEs, and why trust and security are important to us: https://hubs.li/Q03N9rdN0

Propeller is streaming IFC models in CesiumJS, showing them in geospatial context for inspection and analysis in earthworks, quarries, mines, and waste management. With 3D Tiles, the models are performant while retaining all associated metadata so users can see much more granular data, on a much larger scale, faster than ever: https://hubs.li/Q03N9sf80
