It was such an honor to take the stage at NYC Climate Week to share amika’s sustainability journey, alongside industry leaders like Ariana Day Yuen (Forested), Carley Klekas (Sephora), and the incredible Ojok Okello of Okere City. 💚 We announced the launch of our regenerative agriculture partnership with Forested and Okere City—a people-led supply chain that not only regenerates endangered shea trees in Northern Uganda but also creates new livelihoods, especially for women farmers, while building climate resilience. For me, it was a full-circle moment. After graduating from Wharton, I began my career at the UN working on private-sector partnerships that could unlock economic opportunity for low- and middle-income countries. To now see this vision come to life through amika’s work—where beauty can fuel regeneration, equity, and collective action—was deeply heartwarming and emotional. Most inspiring of all was hearing directly about the impact this work is already having on the Okere City community. 🌍 At amika, we believe in being a friend to the future—restoring what beauty has historically overlooked: equity, accountability, and the health of our planet. This partnership is just the beginning.

✨ Redefining Beauty Standards at Beauty Gives Back 2025 ✨ Earlier this week, amika returned for our second year at the Beauty Gives Back Conference, joining nearly 1,000 stylists, students, and educators for an unforgettable conversation on Redefining Beauty Standards: Driving Change in Hair Care Legislation & Culture. I had the pleasure of moderating the panel featuring Keya Artistically Neal (Texture vs. Race), Jody Tyvela (Professional Beauty Association), and Cara Crafton (amika technical education manager). The room was filled with energy, joy, and even a few tears as the panel explored: 💇🏽♀️ How Eurocentric beauty standards have shaped the industry and how we can collectively redefine them. 📜 The role of legislation like the CROWN Act and initiatives like the Texture Education Collective. 🎓 Practical steps stylists can take to build inclusive salons and learning environments. 🤝 How brands like amika show up authentically with products and storytelling that celebrate all hair, all people, always. A huge thank you to Mireya Villarreal and Julie Hightower for creating Beauty Gives Back and building such an inspiring platform for the professional beauty industry. As a long time Harlem resident, it was such an honour to attend Harlem’s Fashion Row award + fashion show! Amika showed up with our high-performing, inclusive products, + it was so inspiring to see the brand showcased by stylists + designers who share our values. The theme really resonated with me: “this is the table”. We showed up not at a table that sometimes lets us pull up a chair, but at THE table that we create, we build, + we nourish by us + for us. Insane that I work for a company that creates these tables where all c(hair)s are welcome (see what I did there?!). As a woman from the Caribbean, I was moved seeing 3 Haitian designers display astounding runway looks steeped in our shared culture, + styled in partnership with amika products. My heritage, my present, + my passion for products united, is this what it feels like to live in a dream?! An immaculate evening indeed, with amika’s involvement enabled by our incredible head of DEI + impact Gianne D. + the unstoppable force Brandice Daniel. Grateful. 🧡🩷

On Tuesday night, I had the privilege of representing amika at the 18th Annual Harlem’s Fashion Row Awards + Fashion Show, a powerful celebration of designers of color and a reminder of why inclusive representation matters so deeply in fashion and beauty. As part of our sponsorship, amika products were: - Used by every stylist backstage to create looks across all textures: from braids to curls to sleek ponytails - Gifted to attendees in their gift bags, extending the All Hair is Welcome experience beyond the runway A highlight of the evening was seeing Usher Raymond IV honored with the Virgil Abloh Award, presented by LVMH, recognizing his cultural influence and creative impact. Seeing our products bring diverse textures and styles to life on such an iconic stage was a reminder of the role beauty plays in fostering true belonging.
