Joomla is attending the The Open Website Alliance's Cyber Resilience Act Readiness Conference in Vienna this Friday (10th Oct). What's that, you may be asking? The Open Website Alliance is a consortium of Joomla, Drupal, Typo3 and Wordpress which was formed partly in response to the CRA. Put very simply, if you sell anything with a digital component, from smart speakers to laptops, and most importantly websites, then you are considered a manufacturer and liable for the cybersecurity of that site throughout its lifecycle. There are obvious cost implications for site creators, not to mention authors of extensions and other add-ons. The conference is intended to respond to the EU's governing body in such a way as to minimise the impact this will have on creators such as yourselves. We will endeavour to update you after the conference with the outcome.
