Jordan Tigani kicked off the small data movement with his "Big Data is Dead" blog post. He shared why he's excited about hosting and speaking at the "Small Data SF" conference coming up in 2 weeks.
If you're like me and don't think that the size of your data is the most important thing about it, join us at the "Small Data SF" conference on Nov 4 and 5 San Francisco (https://lnkd.in/gJNmJk8x). We've got some amazing speakers lined up.... There's both Tristan Handy and George Fraser, who are even more topical than usual after the news that they're re-bundling the Modern Data Stack. Barry McCardel, Barr Moses, and Colin Zima will share how they're adding AI to BI. (I am trying to figure out how to add CI and DI as well, but the conference organizers keep shooting down that idea). If that's not enough AI for you, Ravin Kumar from Google DeepMind and Shelby Heinecke, PhD will talk about big results with small models. We also have Joe Reis and Benn Stancil, who are more than just accomplished influencers / sh*tposters, they also have hard-earned insights to share. If you just like Databases, Adi Polak from Confluent and Glauber Costa from Turso are going to talk about some very cool technologies they're building. Finally, we'll have a number of practitioners, talking about how they build systems for modest sized data, like Sahil Gupta at DoSomething.org, Scott Haines from Buf, and Sam Alexander from Extended Play. There is also a whole day of workshops where you can get hands on experience building things. If that's not enough, we're not afraid to lure people in with craft coffee, copious chocolate and customizable swag. I hope to see you there!
