MEET YOUR CUSTOMERS IN PERSON Imagine you’ve built what you think is the best dog food machine in the world. You expect dogs everywhere will love it - but you won’t know until you see if they actually eat the food. However, your customers CAN tell you what they want. But they don’t always know what solution they need - they just know they have a problem. So your job is to present your point of view to them, observe their reaction, and listen closely. Does it work? Are there any pain points? That’s why I travel to meet customers in person - so I can see, in real time, whether our solution actually helps. If you don’t take time to understand their business and context, all you have is a hypothesis. To move from hypothesis to solution, don’t assume - show and listen. Once they’ve seen what you’ve built, you’ll know if it works.
