On Global Handwashing Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF launched the first global guidelines for hand hygiene in community settings — a major step forward to promoting better public health. Research has shown that, even in high-income countries, handwashing education can: 🌍Reduce diarrheal illness in people with weakened immune systems by 58%. 🌎Cut respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by 16-21%. 🌏Lower diarrhea incidence by ~33% in schools and day-care centers. • Environmental leadership has always been part of who we are as a company. In a recent Newsweek interview, SC Johnson Chairman & CEO H. Fisk Johnson reflected on his father's decision to eliminate CFCs from products, well before regulations required it. That same mindset drives our work today to reduce plastic waste and advocate for federal Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws. “Consumers are already seeing plastic as a planetary and human health issue,” he told Newsweek. “Companies that lead on sustainability will earn their trust—and help shape the future.” 🔗 in the comments to read the full story

  • Spatial repellents offer a simple and effective way to help protect communities from mosquitoes and the diseases they may carry. We’re dedicated to making protection accessible because everyone deserves to live free from the threat of insect-borne disease. Recently recommended by the World Health Organization, our spatial repellents, Guardian and Mosquito Shield are designed to complement traditional interventions like bed nets and indoor residual spraying, reducing transmission of disease up to 33 percent. Because we’re at work for a better world, we make these tools available at no profit to the company and work with global public health partners, NGOs, and Ministries of Health of several countries to ensure they reach the communities that need them most.

  • Plastic waste isn’t just an environmental issue. This study from Italy was one of the first to explore how microplastics may impact our bodies—not just our oceans. From seafood to drinking water to the air we breathe, microplastics and nanoplastics are entering our food chain and our bodies in ways we're only beginning to understand. This film dives into the science and the human stories behind that growing concern. At SC Johnson, we’ve spent decades improving product design to reduce plastic waste: from refillable formats to recyclable packaging. But we know that voluntary action alone isn’t enough. That’s why we advocate stronger plastic waste regulation—because real progress requires systemic change. Watch the full film and explore how you can get involved at https://lnkd.in/gusfpQVJ

  • A team from SCJ kicked off #UNGA80 at the inaugural Nat Gala, hosted by our long-time partners at Conservation International. The event united 300 leaders, investors and innovators from across industries to celebrate their shared commitment to Nature Action—underscoring the urgency and impact of united environmental leadership. SCJ was proud to support this impactful evening, with funds raised going toward: 🌲🌊Restoring “trees and seas” 📖 Empowering tomorrow’s storytellers 🎓 Educating the next generation Together, we’re committed to building a better world for all.

Plastic is deeply embedded in our daily lives, delivering remarkable benefits to our well-being over the past century. But when mismanaged, it becomes a pollutant—threatening our planet, ecosystems, and now possibly our health. A study from the University of Campania in Naples, Italy, was among the first to observe microplastics in the arteries of local heart disease patients. While the findings serve as an important warning, more research is needed to fully understand the long-term impact. We’ve spent decades working to reduce our plastic footprint through product and packaging innovation, among other initiatives. However, without strong federal and state-level regulations, making meaningful progress remains a significant challenge. We all must work together to solve this issue—businesses, individuals, and governments—to drive effective change. Watch the full video linked in the comments and learn how you can be part of the change by joining our movement advocating for stronger plastic waste regulation.

  • We’re proud to congratulate SCJ Argentina for being recognized as the No. 12 Great Place to Work® for Women! 🏆 This recognition follows a No. 9 rank on the 2025 list of Best Workplaces in Argentina list and marks a return after last appearing on the Women’s list in 2021. Earlier this year, SCJ Argentina was also recognized as a Best Workplace for Companies That Care, reflecting a culture built on inclusion, purpose, and values. The organizations that made the list represent excellence in workplace environments in Argentina, according to the opinions of the women working there. Congratulations to the Argentina team for making SC Johnson a truly great place to work! #gptw #gptwargentina

  • This week, SC Johnson hosted public health leaders from 16 African countries at our spatial repellent manufacturing facility in Nairobi, Kenya—an important next step toward ending malaria. Together with partners like the End Malaria Council Kenya, UNHCR, Kenya's Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards in the Ministry of Health, and the Coalition of Parliamentarians Engaged to End Malaria, we’re focused on one goal: enabling the adoption, registration, and procurement of Guardian, our breakthrough spatial repellent. Backed by a World Health Organization policy recommendation and prequalification listing, Guardian is one of the first new vector control tools approved for malaria prevention in 25 years. This isn’t just a conversation—it’s a coordinated push to bring life-saving innovation into national malaria strategies. And it’s all being done at no profit, as part of our decades-long commitment to protecting the world’s most vulnerable from insect-borne disease.
