Shopify merchants can now create products with up to 2,048 variants. It's a change that’s been years in the making and is one of the most requested features: raising our product variant limit from 100 to 2,048. We heard you, and we re-architected a core part of our platform to support more complex catalogs. For merchants, this means having the runway to offer more colors, styles, and sizes, without clunky workarounds. More on how we made it happen: https://lnkd.in/gFYX29JE

One in five Shopify merchants over 55 launched their business in the past year. Older entrepreneurs are filling gaps in industries obsessed with youth. The 50+ demographic controls 42% of global spending but is often overlooked by brands chasing Gen Z. Savvy founders within this demographic are taking notice and stepping in. Martha Stewart launched Elm Biosciences at 84. Halle Berry built menopause care brand Respin Health, Pamela Anderson entered with Sonsie Skin Inc., and Angel Cornelius started Maison 276. They're creating products specifically for people their age, and the opportunity is massive. Over 11,400 Americans turn 65 daily in 2025. Our merch store, Shopify Supply, just got a serious upgrade. Today, we dropped the Performance Pack, a new apparel collection designed for builders who don’t sit still. And to match the energy, we refreshed our entire storefront. It’s built on Hydrogen, a React-based framework that gives developers full creative control to build fast, custom storefronts. Here’s what’s new: → Shoppable 3D apparel renders, built with Three.js and a hybrid 2D/3D canvas system, let you spin, zoom, and explore every detail—just like holding the garment in your hands. → Using GLTF rigging and Wiggle Bones animation, the 3D garments react to every move of your cursor. Glide your mouse across the product and watch it turn and jiggle with lifelike motion. → Custom GPU shaders add dynamic distortion, and layer movement, color, and texture to the photos as you navigate the page. If you’re into the new drop or even just the new store design, check it out: https://shopify.supply/

Merchants are getting their time back with Sidekick. These latest updates speed up recurring tasks and help them get more done in one place. → Merchants can now save their most-used prompts for later. We call these Sidekick skills. Instead of retyping prompts, run skills in seconds with a single command. → Skills are shareable too, making it easy for your team or other merchants to replicate prompts in their store. → Sidekick now helps merchants find and compare apps. Get personalized app recommendations and install right from the chat. No visit to the App Store needed. → Voice chat is now available across all stores. Instead of typing a prompt, talk directly to Sidekick—and Sidekick can talk back.

September shopping trends show U.S. consumers preparing for fall—and even getting a head start on winter. We analyzed month-over-month sales from thousands of Shopify merchants to identify trending products. Here are the highlights: → Fall wardrobes are getting a refresh. Overcoat sales rose +114%, followed by puffer jackets (+82%), cardigans (+41%), and beanies (+41%). → Halloween preparations are well underway, with costume sets up 175% and pet costumes up 125%. → Home chefs are stocking up on seasonal ingredients, including apples (+223%), apple butter (+40%), and squash (+120%). Demand for tea makers (+112%) and pie and quiche pans (+26%) also increased. → Fall isn’t the only season on shoppers’ minds. Many are decorating early for the holidays, with stocking hangers (+306%), Christmas tree skirts (+170%) and stands (+140%), and nutcrackers (+123%) all seeing triple-digit growth. Entrepreneurs, what trends are you spotting?

Shopify merchants, you’ll soon be able to sell directly through ChatGPT conversations. Hundreds of millions already consult ChatGPT when shopping. All that’s been missing is a “buy” button. Not anymore. Soon, when shoppers ask questions like, “I want a new scent for fall. Any recs?” or “What’s the best carry-on luggage under $300?” they’ll be able to purchase recommended products right in the chat. From discovery to purchase—all in one conversation. Behind the scenes, merchants will manage orders and customers the same way they always have in their Shopify admin. For more on rollout: https://lnkd.in/gtExkRAV

Another exclusive, another entrepreneur who gets it. Ridge started with a simple belief—that they could make wallets better. Two Kickstarters, over ten years, and 2+ million wallets later, they're still improving every day. That energy is why we collab with entrepreneurs like Sean Frank to create merch for and by the commerce community. Is your brand next? Let us know in the comments.
