  • It is hard to believe, but today is already the last day of Frankfurt Book Fair 2025. Throughout the past few days, we not only have had the privilege of welcoming guests and political delegations from the German states of Hessen and Baden-Württemberg to our booth. On Friday, Sarah Koch moderated an insightful panel discussion on the future of mobility featuring Helmut Holzapfel (Zentrum für Mobilitätskultur in Kassel), Ines Fröhlich (Hessisches Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Energie, Verkehr, Wohnen und ländlichen Raum) and Joachim Müller-Jung (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung/Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung). Our Highlight on Saturday were undoubtedly the five inspiring author events at our booth. The sessions with experts from the fields of social science, AI, psychology, medicine and quantum technology were a great success, and we were thrilled to see a full house for all of them! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 such a successful and inspiring event! It was truly a pleasure to connect with so many of you around our booth and events! We can't wait to see you next year for #FBM26! #FBM25

We’re proud to showcase the broad range our publications and imprints cover. For years, responsible investing has been a bewildering precinct in asset management. But slowly and steadily, responsible investing morphed from a movement into an industry on course to command $50 trillion in assets by 2025. Palgrave’s ‘A Field Guide to Responsible Investing’ takes readers on a journey of the evolution of responsible investing, how it works today, why it’s integral to investment considerations, and how we can finally get a grip on its efficacy. It’s time to demystify and unpack this invaluable method for managing our assets, and our futures. From setting up our booth to busy days filled with inspiring events, speakers, and meetings, it's been quite a journey so far. The energy has been buzzing, and we've enjoyed anniversary celebrations with a sprinkle of magic in the air. The first two days of Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 have already flown by, and it's been truly wonderful! Thanks for joining us to discuss important topics like the impact of research on SDG policy, AI, misinformation, and the significance of trust in science and news. Alongside other publishers from Baden-Württemberg, we also took part in a workshop at the MFG booth on Future Publishing. The highlight of Day 1 was definitely the annual Happy Hour, where we celebrated #SpringerNature10 with some delicious cake, cupcakes, and a bit of magic. Our festivities carried on into Thursday with a reception honoring #PalgraveMacmillan25. Feel free to swing by and meet us at the Frankfurt Book Fair until Sunday. You can join us for one of our events or just drop by Hall 4.0 | D14. http://spklr.io/6047BKYz1 #FBM #FBM25 Frankfurter Buchmesse MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH Palgrave Macmillan Springer Apress Macmillan Education Spektrum der Wissenschaft Verlagsgesellschaft mbH Springer Gabler Overton

BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2025 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt “for having explained innovation-driven economic growth” with one half to Mokyr “for having identified the prerequisites for sustained growth through technological progress” and the other half jointly to Aghion and Howitt “for the theory of sustained growth through creative destruction.”   The laureates showed how new technology can drive sustained growth.   Over the last two centuries, for the first time in history, the world has seen sustained economic growth. This has lifted vast numbers of people out of poverty and laid the foundation of our prosperity. This year’s laureates in economic sciences, Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt, explain how innovation provides the impetus for further progress.   Joel Mokyr used historical sources as one means to uncover the causes of sustained growth becoming the new normal. He demonstrated that if innovations are to succeed one another in a self-generating process, we not only need to know that something works, but we also need to have scientific explanations for why. The latter was often lacking prior to the industrial revolution, which made it difficult to build upon new discoveries and inventions. He also emphasised the importance of society being open to new ideas and allowing change.   Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt also studied the mechanisms behind sustained growth. In an article from 1992, they constructed a mathematical model for what is called creative destruction: when a new and better product enters the market, the companies selling the older products lose out. The innovation represents something new and is thus creative. However, it is also destructive, as the company whose technology becomes passé is outcompeted.   In different ways, the laureates show how creative destruction creates conflicts that must be managed in a constructive manner. Otherwise, innovation will be blocked by established companies and interest groups that risk being put at a disadvantage.
