Go live to your scheduled LinkedIn Live Event using Zoom

Last updated: 2 months ago

This article outlines the step-by-step instructions for going live to your scheduled event on LinkedIn using a custom stream (RTMP) from a Zoom Meeting or Webinar. Before you can go live, enable custom live streaming in Zoom.

You must meet the following criteria to access LinkedIn Live:

  • Access criteria to create and host LinkedIn Lives. Tigger a review of the Page or Profile to check if you fulfill the criteria.

  • If streaming to a LinkedIn Page, the person facilitating the stream must be a super or content poster Page admin.

Important to know

The Stream URL and Stream Key for an event can be found on the Manage streams page of LinkedIn's Live Studio.

For verified Pages, Prepare to go live will become clickable two hours before the event's scheduled start time, when they can generate the Stream URL and Stream Key. They can be in Preview mode for up to two hours.

For Profiles and Pages that are not verified, Prepare to go live will become clickable one hour before the event's scheduled start time, when they can generate the Stream URL and Stream Key. The Preview mode is limited to 10 minutes.

Prepare to go live on LinkedIn Live Event

  1. Start your preparation, by doing one of the following:

    • Go to your event page and click Set Up.
    • Go to the Manage streams page of Live Studio and click Prepare to go live next to your event.
  2. In the Live Studio, under Stream settings tab, pick your region.

    • Not all regions have a dedicated source in the Region dropdown list. If you don’t see your region, you can still go live by selecting the region closest to you. Each region is allocated a certain bandwidth, and sometimes regions run out of available bandwidth. If this happens, try selecting another region close to you.
  3. Click Get URL to generate the Stream URL and Stream Key. They will be available one hour before your scheduled start time, or two hours for verified Pages.

  4. Keep LinkedIn's Live Studio open. You'll need it for later steps.

Start your Zoom stream

  1. Start your Zoom meeting or webinar as the host, by doing one of the following:

    • From your calendar: If you have added the meeting or webinar to your calendar, click the link displayed on your calendar reminder.
    • From the Zoom website: Sign in to Zoom, find the meeting or webinar on the Meetings or Webinars page, and click Start.
  2. Click the More icon in the host controls then choose Livestream.

  3. Click Live on Custom Live Streaming Service.

You'll be redirected to a new window to enter your custom stream details from your LinkedIn Live Event into Zoom.

Go live on LinkedIn

  1. Go back to LinkedIn's Live Studio.

  2. Copy the Stream URL and Stream Key from the Live Studio and paste them into the Zoom custom livestream settings.

  3. Select the resolution. We recommend selecting Standard 720p resolution for optimal streaming.

  4. Click Go Live! in Zoom.

  5. Go back to LinkedIn's Live Studio to see a preview of your Zoom feed.

    • Your audience won't see your feed during preview.
    • Make sure to mute from the LinkedIn stream screen. This will allow you to use the microphone and speaker from Zoom.
    • You can only stay in the preview mode for up to 10 minutes, or two hours for verified Pages. If you do not click Go live before that, it’ll expire and you’ll have to set up a new stream again.
  6. Click Go live when you’re ready to live stream. This will broadcast the LinkedIn Live Event to your audience.

  7. Click End stream when you’re done.

The replay will be available on your LinkedIn Event page shortly after ending the stream.
