LinkedIn Live Video broadcasters who want to connect directly to any streaming software or encoder can use a custom stream (RTMP Ingest) to go live from their desktop browser by visiting the Live Studio. This enables advanced broadcasters and professional producers to use the tool of their choice (For example OBS, Elemental, Zoom, etc.) or their own production workflow for streaming. We support both RTMP and RTMPS. It’s important to follow the encoder settings outlined in LinkedIn Live Video encoder settings.
Go live instantly to a LinkedIn Page or profile
-
Go to the Live Studio.
-
Under New stream, select Go live now.
-
Under Create a post, select the LinkedIn Profile or Page you want to stream to from, and compose your post.
-
Under Your stream details, add a Title for your stream.
-
In the Stream settings tab, pick your region.
- Not all regions have a dedicated source in the Region dropdown list. If you don’t see your region, you can still go live by selecting the region closest to you. Each region is allocated a certain bandwidth, and sometimes regions run out of available bandwidth. If this happens, try selecting another region close to you.
-
Click Get URL. Copy the Stream URL and Stream Key and paste them into your broadcast software. If you’re not sure where to paste them, visit your software’s help center to learn more.
-
Start streaming in your streaming software, and you'll see a preview within the Live Studio. The preview is limited to 10 minutes, or two hours for verified Pages.
- If you're testing this stream, don't click Go live as this will broadcast the event to your audience. If you can view the preview, the connection was successful, and you may end the session from your broadcasting tool without broadcasting on LinkedIn.
-
Click Go live in the upper-right corner when you’re ready to live stream.
-
While you’re live, you can do the following in the Live Studio:
- Manage comments and mute commenters in the Comments section.
- Get the link to your stream for sharing by clicking Copy link to video.
- Stop streaming by clicking End stream in the upper-right corner.
