Profile displays incorrectly in search tool results

After you make changes to your profile, it may take several weeks or even months for search tools like Google, Yahoo, or Bing to detect and reflect those changes. LinkedIn does not control how or when these search tools refresh their results. If your profile appears incorrectly in search results, you’ll need to contact the search tool directly to request a correction.

You may find the below information helpful:  

  • If you recently created a LinkedIn account and do not see your profile in search tool results, we encourage you to complete your profile and connect with other LinkedIn members to increase activity and raise visibility to search tools.  
  • Verify if your public profile is searchable and displaying correctly on Bing or Yahoo! If other search tools are showing your public profile incorrectly, you can reach out to the support center for the search tool in question directly.  
  • If your updated public profile is significantly different from the previous version, you can make a direct request to:

Note: If you close your LinkedIn account, it is closed immediately. However, it may take up to 72 hours for your public profile to be removed from LinkedIn.

  • Not all sections of your profile can be displayed publicly. On the Public profile settings page, you'll be able to see and adjust the sections of your profile that are eligible to be displayed publicly. Viewers who are not signed in to LinkedIn may see all or some portions of the profile eligible to be displayed publicly. Keep in mind that in some contexts we may show a more limited profile preview that includes some but not all of the profile fields you've allowed
  • In order to see your full profile, visitors may need to log in to their LinkedIn accounts.
