In the latest S&P Global Sustainability Quarterly, we highlight the potential climate physical risks facing a key element of transportation infrastructure globally: airports. Exposure in North America for airports is generally lower than for other regions, but there are exceptions, including at hub airports. Compared to the global population, North American airports are generally less exposed to climate hazards, though exposure is relatively high for flooding and storms in some locations. There could be moderate flood exposure at several North America airports, increasing until the 2050s. Read the full report here: https://okt.to/IEoyWx #SustainabilityQuarterly

The latest S&P Global Sustainability Quarterly features a new analysis from our climate scientists and economists that suggests the world should prepare for adapting to 2.3 degrees C of global warming. Our probabilistic model indicates that a 2.3 C world is very likely to materialize in the next 15 to 25 years. Adaptation needs will therefore continue to rise, even in the near term. It is very unlikely that physical climate risks will not increase in severity and frequency globally (less than 2.5% chance), implying more climate-change-related losses absent an increase in adaptation and resilience investments. S&P Global Commodity Insights reimagined long-term energy and climate scenarios are featured in the latest S&P Global Sustainability Quarterly. Globally, the 2025 scenarios show GHG emissions as stable to declining, but all take the view that limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees C above preindustrial levels is no longer possible. Atmospheric concentrations of GHGs indicate that the breaching of the 1.5-degree-C warming threshold will be sustained even with a sudden and rapid drop in emissions from today’s levels. Managing the consequences of a changing and warming climate is an inescapable truth regardless of outlook. Read the full report: https://okt.to/kmAPaX #SustainabilityQuarterly
