This game was created in under a week (a weekend, to be precise) for Brackeys Game Jam. I hope you enjoy our first attempt at making an actual game. 💛
🥇For the best experience, we recommend playing the downloadable version (link further down the page). Though the browser version is pretty decent if you are lazy. 😉
⚡Make sure your graphics/hardware acceleration is turned on if you are playing in the browser.
📃Instructions
- Guide Crumb through the ruins.
- Use your glow to reveal hidden dangers - but remember, every light has a cost.
- Avoid traps, solve puzzles, and survive the shadows.
- Try to complete your run as quickly as possible!

🎮 Controls
- 🧭 Movement
- WASD - Move in cardinal directions
- Tap to Move
- Screen edges indicate available movement:
- 🟩 Green - You can move in that direction
- 🔴 Red - You cannot move in that direction
- Tip: The edge of the screen corresponds to the movement key. For example:
- Left edge → Move Left (A)
- Right edge → Move Right (D)
- Top edge → Move Up (W)
- Bottom edge → Move Down (S)
- 👆 Interaction
- E - Interact with objects (the game will signal when interaction is possible)
- 🕯️ Power
- Space (Hold) - Channel your glow
- The longer you hold, the more light you reveal.
- But beware: using your glow consumes it.

💡Tip: Try to complete your run as quickly as possible, balancing your 'space' ability and steps taken!
⚠️ Beware: Everything has a cost.
♻️ Retry: If you run out of glow, retry!
🛠️ Known Issues:
- Crumb has temporarily lost some of his glow. It will be restored after the Jam.
- There is no built-in restart unless you finish the game or die. Refreshing your browser page helps if you want to quickly restart a run.

🌐 Web Version: The web version will be available for a limited time during the game jam, after which we will only update the desktop and mobile app versions. We recommend playing the downloadable version.
The Story 📜
Deep within forgotten ruins, where shadows stretch endlessly and silence is broken only by distant echoes, a tiny rock named Crumb carries the last spark of light. His glow is his life... his only weapon against the encroaching dark... but every time he shines to illuminate the path, he burns away a piece of himself.
Navigate treacherous ruins filled with ancient traps, shifting puzzles, and relentless enemies hungry for Crumb’s glow. Each step is a choice: use your light to reveal hidden dangers, or conserve your strength to endure the trials ahead. The ruins will test your courage, forcing you to balance survival against sacrifice.
Can you guide Crumb through the darkness before his glow fades forever?

Great game but i just am not able to get a feel for the controls. something seems off.
Thank you. 😊 Yeah a lot of people are having the same issue. I am realising that maybe I am the issue. 🤣 We do have fixes for that planned 🤗
This game is such a clever and creative entry! I really enjoyed the mechanic of sacrificing health to reveal more of the map, it forces you to constantly weigh the risk versus reward whilst trying to solve the puzzle optimally, Also the traps really keep the tension high and ensure you never get too comfortable.
Overall, it has a lot of potential and seems like a well-executed concept. Massive respect for pulling this off. It really is a fun game!
