Inspiration and jam theme
Clock Tower, released by Human Entertainment in 1995 for the SNES, has been the primary inspiration for us. This game, though criticised for having a slow pace, it established the bases for the video game horror experience, leaving the action aside in favour of the tension, mystery, and exploration, which will then be adopted by future titles like Resident Evil (1996). You can acquire Clock Tower: Rewind on Steam.
Downhell wants to revive the same concept on its core, bringing back the Clock Tower experience from the dead with a new story.

i really enjoyed this one! i loved the carefully paced storytelling & mystery unfurling amidst the creeping tension. the game design (slow movement speed but still having to think quickly to avoid the monster) and the art direction really wove together to create a genuinely tense experience! i especially liked the pixel art + the anthro character designs, they all had a lot of personality. well done!!
