Airpods pro 3 chirp/high pitch noise

Hi,

I just got the AirPods Pro 3 and whenever I put them in my ears/adjust them or just listen to music, I hear a high pitched sound/chirp in my left ear.

I tried all the troubleshooting possibilities such as resetting, changing from ANC/transparency/adaptive/off, cleaned them, tried different tip sizes, etc.

I even tried putting the right airpod in my left ear and it still happens in the left, so I’m guessing it’s an issue with my ear canal but I was still thinking if getting a replacement could help or if I could tone down the feedback that causes this.

I also had a few tries in the accesibility tab to tone down the transparency amplification but that didn’t work either.

My normal airpods 3 didnt have this issue at all so I guess it’s related to feedback from ANC/transparency. Does anyone else have this issue? The only temporary fix I found is placing the tip 0.1mm away from the airpod, right before it snaps into place and that makes it better

Thanks

AirPods Pro 3

I have had the same issue with the AirPods Pro 3. I returned the first pair and for a replacement. Went home, charged them, and had the same issue with the second. Went back to the Apple Store and got a 3rd. While in the store with the rep i connect them to my iPhone, and again that same chirping/whistling noise was coming from the left air pod. So I just got a refund. Very frustrating as I never had this issue with the AirPods Pro 2 I had

I took my first flight today with the new AirPods Pro 3 and noticed the same issue others have mentioned — a whistling noise in the right AirPod. I tried a few things to make it stop, but nothing worked until I read this thread. When I cupped my hand over my ear, the whistling went away for a bit. Switching to Adaptive mode also stopped the noise.

Based on what I experienced, it seems like a pressure or noise cancellation feedback issue. When I closed my nose and mouth to equalize my ears, the whistling would start again. It also happened when I yawned during the flight. It’s a strange problem and not something I’ve ever experienced before.

I noticed there was a new firmware update today (build 8A358), so I’m hoping that resolves it. Waiting for my AirPods to update now.

I had this problem too and it was especially bad on a flight I took the day I bought my AirPods 3. I contacted Apple Support through Chat and was told after they did a diagnostic analysis of them to reset my AirPods. I went through that process and I have noticed 2 things. First, the sound seems better but I have not and will not be on an airplane any time soon so I cannot say that they work as they should in that situation. Second is the removal of the ability to turn off the ANC. There were originally 4 choices "Off", "Transparency", "Adaptive", and "Noise Cancellation". After the reset "Off" was gone. My AirPods 3 now have Firmware 8A357 which the Apple site says is the latest.

I hope this helps but I am not sure if the issue is really fixed.

I've had my AirPod 3's for a few days. Chirping occurs when in hearing assistance mode: in Transparency frequently; in Adaptive only when picking up conversation; in ANC only when conversing with someone.

The chirp is akin to a home smoke alarm low battery warning going off in the next room. The first time I tried them in Transparency mode I actually looked at the smoke alarm in the room to see if it was blinking but it wasn't, of course, since it's a 10 year hardwired/battery system I just installed.

So we're having an early nor'easter tomorrow and looks like I'll be stopping by the Apple Store while walking in the mall. First I'll try the reset troubleshooting method. Hopefully that'll resolve it.

Have a pair of AirPod 2's and could faintly notice some issues with hearing assistance with them as well. Instead of chirping it would be more like the mics for external sound would turn on or up from time to time with a very faint squeak in the left pod.

Same issue for me.

First time it happened randomly, and it hurt in my ear!!! This was awful.

I reset them, and after few times I repeated this, the problem was solved.

Yesterday on the bike tour, after 4 hours into my ride, the left pod malfunctioned again.

Now I try returning them.

Sad that such a premium product is not working properly.

Same issue & they’re literally a day old. My AirPod pro 2’s have been through it, being washed multiple times, dropped in a lake, ran over, etc, & zero problems. I noticed the 3’s feel almost cheaper in a way. This is unacceptable & I’m baffled that other people are already having this issue. Here I was thinking Apple might’ve turned the table with these and made actual improvements in their products. Looks like I was wrong.
