Hi there!
I have an issue with Task Coach after the following Windows Update was installed: Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5039211). I am running Windows 10 Pro x64.
I have been using Task Coach almost daily since 2012 (thank you for your amazing software!), and I haven't run into this issue before.
Windows automatically installed the KB5039211 update last Friday as I logged off for the week, and when I started Task Coach this morning, Task Coach would automatically close when I'd try to Save As, Export, etc. Any time a File Explorer window would be opened by Task Coach, Task Coach would immediately close. I could navigate within Task Coach without Task Coach crashing, but as soon as Task Coach would try to interface with File Explorer, Task Coach would shut down. There were no log files created every time this happened.
In attempt to resolve the crashing while still having KB5039211 installed, I tried the following and nothing changed the crashing behavior with File Explorer.
After uninstalling KB5039211, Task Coach works perfectly again.
Could you help me with this? I'd love to keep using your program and I'm not sure what Microsoft changed in their Security Update KB5039211 that is causing this issue with File Explorer.
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Christy
Geez, this stinks, second report of this, and since you tried those things, I don't have a solution. I'm imagining we need to get Task Coach finished updating to Python 3 and then work from there to get it to be compatible with the latest system updates. It might be too hard to otherwise track down and fix this bug (and maybe it will just be fixed when everything is updated.
See https://github.com/taskcoach for the efforts on the revival
Meanwhile, I'll keep this bug ticket open
Hi Aaron, thank you for your reply.
If it helps at all, I did look at the Event Viewer (native to Windows) and the error occurs due to the windows.storage.dll file. Does that help narrow anything down? The associated Event ID is 1000.
I've the same issue. I've uninstalled the windows update mentioned, and it works fine now.
Hi,
I'm getting the same issue.
Maybe a recent recompilation over a updated windows, could solve this issue ?
at event viewer (brazilian portuguese):
Just commenting , I solve my issue setting the compatible mode with windows 7 ...
