I running Viking in windows 7. I can't connect to my usb GPS device. It shows up on com6 on this laptop. I can link to it with other software, but not with viking. Not sure what to try next or if it is just incompatible.
Thanks.

If you're using the current 1.3.1 version on Windows there is known problem in being able to select the GPS Protocol on Windows. (This has been discussed on the mailing list)

Hopefully a new version will be out later this week that contains this fix (along some others too).

If you're using an older version that has GPS Protocols, note although the Serial Port device list is a drop down menu, you can still *type in* a value.
Hence you can just put in 'com6' if that's the one for you.

I don't see a windows version in the 1.3.2 folder. I downloaded version 1.2.2 and tried adding a map layer and then a gps layer, but still don't see how to get real time gps location to show up on the map?

I can't quite create Windows builds (yet...), so we've waiting on our Windows guy to have free time to make the new version.

We rely on a service program called 'gspd' to perform the GPS interfacing, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a Windows version. See http://www.catb.org/gpsd/

Thus 'Real Time' GPS location is currently disabled in Windows builds :(
