Ok. I just installed the Oracle JRE 8 and it seems to work. It appears to be a OpenJDK compatibility issue. It would be good to fix it to use OpenJDK 8. In most Linux distributions this is the default installed version, because of open source incompatibility of the Oracle version. But anyway, it can be used this way. Thanks!

Hi, On my Mac using Java 8 from https://java.com works with the version you can download here. That's great. DGuitar was one of the projects I have in my wish list for integration ;-) Maybe I'll contact Mauricio about what are goals for DAWN and join the effort... And I think you did great job with Frinika. If possible, I would like to write DAW in a way, that it would be usable for multiple languages including Javascript, but I'm not there yet (at least for another few decades or so...)

Hi Peter, I can't make Jack work on my Linux (Fedora) even with older frinika... But it appears in audio configuration while in modified version it's not present. I'll have to look on that. Also I found some other issues, for example metronome doesn't play in some cases and I can't make virtual keyboard visible... Oh well, I'll try to look on that once I'll find some free time :-(

Are you able to run Frinika using Jack on Linux? I was trying to use Jack, works with the old frinika, but not with 0.9.0 ( client shows up in qjackctl, but not possible to connect with system output)

Hi Paul, thanks for your response. I have only old Mac OSX as virtual machine and sound is not working, therefore application stops when opening file. I tried to add dummy audio driver, but it didn't help. I don't intend to buy Apple device just for testing and I was not successful so far finding better virtual image for testing purposes (wasted many hours), so I won't be able to check this any time soon. Maybe you could include some additional information like: - Version of your system and installed...

Hi Peter, in best case I would like to prepare pull request, but it would include modularized (moved) sources as well. So it depends on if such extended modification of code is acceptable for you (plus switch to gradle building). There is still lot of work and more testing I have to do. Sorry for late reply. Just tested with the latest version - and loaded one of my projects which worked fine! Looks good with the new Dracula theme :-) How are you thinking about merging? Will you be posting a patch (pull request) into the existing Frinika repository, or are you suggesting replacing the existing sources with your reorganized structure (you have moved all the sources into different folders ( modules )) ?

I hope I fixed that (I moved MultiPart into wrong package when splitting into modules). I'll try to check if there are any other similar mistakes later today. Hi, like I said, it's work in progress and many things are broken right now. For example I tried it on Windows 10 now and got NPE right on start. On Linux I tried opening some of the sample files, which worked for me. Other stuff like audio parts are still broken. I couldn't open some of my older projects even in Frinika as I moved files or my keyboard is not connected ;-) On this version you can also try Tools - Generator - SoundHelix. http://hajdam.zdechov.net/share/frinika/frinika-studio-0.1....

Looks very cool with that dark version :-) I think it's very interesting to see different versions and forks, so keep on experimenting! Was trying to load projects created with the original Frinika into this new, but couldn't make it work. Have you succeeded in transfering projects from the original Frinika to your version?

Haven't figured out exactly why your file wouldn't import with the regular import midi function, but found that if you use the "Import MIDI to lane(s)" function in the Edit menu, that seemed to import your file. Does that work for you?

I just tried to download "Star Wars - by John Willams (Movie Themes)" from this page: http://www.midiworld.com/files/1128/ and import it into frinika using the "Import midi" function. Frinika prompts "select midi out device" and I chose Gervill, and the midi file imported find and I was able to play it. Seems like you're doing nothing wrong. It might be that your MIDI file has some setup that Frinika isn't able to handle. Would you like to attach it so that I can investigate what goes wrong?
