By using the Settings window of this plugin I set the color of a Changed Line to some dark green color. In that way it works fine in both Light and Dark mode of Notepad++ In "Dark mode" Notepad++ uses white text, so when using light color the text is not readable anymore. It would be nice when this Compare plugin could get a seperate set of colors to use in Dark Mode. And with the default colors a user should still be able to read the text.

The plugin has been recompiled with 7.7 API changes and it didn't change version name so it didn't update automaticaly and you cannot trust the version name. ComparePlugin v2 has 64bit version and it is working fine: https://github.com/pnedev/compare-plugin/releases/download/v2.0.0_npp7.7/ComparePlugin_v2.0.0_npp7.7_X64.zip The only thing to have in mind is to use 32bit version of the plugin with 32bit version of Notepad++ and 64bit - with 64bit Notepad++. This release is for Notepad++ versions above 7.7 as explained in my answer to @mbmbmb above.

I had similar issue with 64 bit. It looks that the compare plugin does not work with 64 bit Notepad++, i installed 32bit variant and followed the above procedure to copy it in plugin folder and it is working.

I've also tried putting it in a folder called compare. You have to put the dll in a folder having the same name as the dll - in other words: ComparePlugin\ComparePlugin.dll

Same in N++ 7.7.1 x64 and Compare Plugin v2.0.0. Horizontal scrolling is activated even if Word wrap is active (?).

I am having an issue installing the plugin. I have copied the file to Program Files (x86)>Notepad++>plugins. But I am stuck at this point as the plugin manager is gone and I have tried importing plugin but it still is not working, please help.

You need the 64 bit version of the plugin because your Notepad++ is 64 bit (if you open Notepad++ in the menu click ? -> About Notepad++ and it will show you the version and the architecture). Download the 64bit version and it will be OK. BR

Hi Philippe, The yellow means that the line exists in the other file but is slightly modified - the dark-yellow marks the changed sections of the line. The blue means that the line is moved to another location in the other file - it is the same but it is simply reordered. Hope that clarifies. BR

Hi, The red rectangular symbol is minus sign - it means that the corresponding line at that location is found in the old file only. In other words that line is completely changed (replaced with another line or simply removed). The red 'not equal' sign means that only part of the line is changed - the line at that location exists in both files but is partialy changed. The changed portion is highlighted in orange. BR

I was having this same problem. I ended up changing the color of the highlights in Plugins -> Compare -> Settings... The standard colors are too light, but choosing darker colors will help make the text readable.
