Collection Space is based on a highly intuitive data model, separating objects, procedures, and their associated data in a way that helps surface relevant information quickly and reduces redundancy and opportunity for error. CS makes our workflows more straightforward, and onboarding new users is much faster. There's simply less guessing about what a field label might mean or where a specific bit of data should be recorded.
As a modern web application, CS is also fast - far more performant than our outgoing on-premises CMS. Significantly, it exposes a powerful RESTful API that has opened up exciting possibilities for integration with other platforms, including CRM and the content management system used for our digital displays and signage.
The team at Lyrasis is simply a joy to work with. They're excited about CS's benefits while being upfront about possible negatives. Their product team listens very closely to users, openly accepting feature requests while offering full transparency about roadmaps. And our migration process has been so much more than that - it's helped to overhaul existing data, reshape our internal procedures, and set our museum up for successful collections management for years to come. Collection Space's reporting functionality still feels somewhat nascent, though from my understanding significant strides are being taken for future releases.
As a relatively young offering, CS doesn't have the huge and well-established user base and support community that some other CMS products do. This hasn't been a significant issue given the responsiveness of the product and support teams, but it's something to be aware of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
