The Unix interaction is not great. They use some type of abstraction tool (“box?”). Pure Unix is preferred by me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DiskStation?

Super simple to setup and administration. Updates and additional Apps are phenomenal. Ability to setup back and file shares are simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DiskStation?

The way that scheduled tasks are handled leaves much to be desired. I have had multiple issues with scheduled tasks not running as intended. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about DiskStation?

This product allows me to have a raid network drive that I can run additional things from such as surveillance cameras, itunes server, and backups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:

If you know you are going to need a certain amount of drives to do a certain raid level do it right the first time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is DiskStation solving and how is that benefiting you?

2 drives is not enough at were I am at currently with this diskstation. Looking into larger ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering DiskStation:

Flashy, pricey, driven. Diskstation is none of these.

The hardware design is slick, but it looks like any other server.

The price is always right where it needs to be.

Diskstation gives you options, you don't have to have the raid completely flash storage. In fact, any combination of SAS hard drive will do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
