Planful has been really useful for simplifying forecasting and actuals tracking across multiple projects. I especially like how it lets us update projections in real time and compare them against actual costs as they come in. For our nonprofit, where we manage a mix of government and private funding, this gives us a much clearer picture of how we’re tracking against budget. It also helps our project managers get more involved in the financial side because the interface is more user-friendly than traditional spreadsheets or ERP systems. The biggest issue I’ve run into with Planful is that some of the setup and customization can be a bit rigid. For example, if a reporting structure or planning template doesn’t quite fit how we manage grants or contracts, it takes some work to get it adjusted. Also, the integration with our other systems wasn’t as seamless as we hoped initially — though that’s improved over time. At a produce company, what we like best about Planful is how seamlessly it supports multi-level sales management. The platform makes it incredibly easy to drill into individual accounts and explore detailed financial data—without having to export anything to Excel. We especially appreciate the ability to expand all rows and columns directly within the platform, which allows our team to analyze performance by product line, region, or customer segment with just a few clicks. What do you dislike about Planful?

Currently, Planful is not connected to our ERP system, which means we still need to manually upload a significant amount of data. This adds extra steps to our workflow and limits the potential for real-time updates. We’re hopeful that moving forward, we can establish a direct integration with our ERP system to streamline the process and fully leverage Planful’s automation capabilities. Planful is a platform used to make decision making easier and transparent for users within Finance and people outside of Finance. The ever evolving AI tech along with the additional plugins (i.e. PowerBi, Tableau, etc.) makes this a very flexible and user friendly interface. Its user-friendly interface, comprehensive features, seamless collaboration, and powerful reporting capabilities make it an essential asset. With this tool, you can streamline your workflow, enhance team productivity, and achieve successful project outcomes. Planful stands out as an intuitive system that allows FP&A team to easily create detailed reports and to automate key processes. With its powerful automation features, Planful significantly reduces our time spent on manual tasks, enabling us to focus more on strategic anaysis. The only downside of Planful is the initial learning curve based on my personal experience. As a beginner, understanding how to create dimensions, cross-check figures, and design report views is quite challenging at the beginning, espcially without sufficient straightforward guideance. The user maintenance section you have to go into a drop down menus to edit most things. This does not work well when on a mobile device. With users across multiple time zones, people often get locked out after hours. I cannot uncheck the locked button from my phone which would alllow me to unlock someone in seconds. We use Planful for Work Force Planning and Financial Reporting. We love how versatile the tool is...you can use it in Excel via Spotlight XL, you can build/run online reports via Dynamic Reporting, you can schedule reoccurring reports via email...such a flexible tool! The best part about Planful is all of the time savings & automation features that come along with it. We've been able to shave hundreds of hours off of our work loads by implementing the software into our organization.
