It truely is a great application. The best part is that they offer an offline activation instead of needing your PDC/DC to have access to the internet to activate the license. The compay truely has security in mind and it shows. We obtained this tool after an audit showing that our employees were using simple passwords (eg. summer2021 etc). With SafePass, we were able to control that and force people to create more advanced passwords - it complements your standard AD password policy and if anything, it inhances it. It's an uncomplicated and elegant solution to the problem of users reusing breached passwords. There aren't many vendors in this space, and Safepass has the most elegant implementation. It isn't complex, and it doesn't need to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software does need to phone home, both for licensing and to send partial hashes back to Have I Been Pwned. We consider the risk minimal, but this does mean an external connection initiated from your DCs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software was really easy to install and get configured in Active Directory. Had a tech on the call and it only took a few minutes for the whole thing. We did run some tests first of course! I threw a good amount of passwords at it to see what it would and would not accept. And it passed with flying colors.

The best part of this software over others, is that the checks remain in house. Some may be more comfortable with allowing hashes to be sent offsite and check, but to me it is not very logical to allow that. If your AD is in Azure or you use a cloud solution, I still believe the safest route is to keep the checks in your environment and not to send it out to get processed by someone else's servers. The only thing I can think of that could be better is if they made a quick link to the word list file. However that is getting "nit picky", which should speak volumes about how much I like the software! I quickly created my owned desktop shortcut.

You might just forget you have this software, because it truly is a set and forget!

Lastly, they didn't have this when we implemented, but they now have Pwncheck. You should invest in that software so no one slips through the cracks! We had a few, and got pinned on a security check! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The worst part of SafePass is that it doesn't tell the end-user the password complexity requirements! We had one end-user that kept entering passwords that appeared to be secure; however, the password didn't contain a letter or something of the other, and the IT department definitely heard from both management and the end-user that "efficiency was impacted". safepass.me is just so easy to use; it's as simple as installing it on your DCs and then customizing the password list to fit the needs of your company. It's great to see poor or compromised passwords failing and it's nice to not have to worry about it anymore! Anytime I had any questions support was always an absolute pleasure to talk to.
