Last week Cinder closed out our 4th annual Nantucket onsite. This year Frances managed to sneak a 20ft water slide onto the island. Other highlights include talks from customers, a sunset boat cruise, a ghost tour, and a surprise visit from Sara Ittelson. We're growing rapidly, and these trips are so special for our whole team to bring us closer as we expand. Want to join the next one? Check out our hiring page for current open roles in the comments

  • We're excited to welcome Thatcher Bouck as our founding Account Executive. He joins us from San Francisco, but is originally from Denver. So it won't surprise you that when he's not working with us to make the internet a safer place, you can catch him in Tahoe. 🏔️ We are also thrilled to welcome Wes Sankey as a Senior Software Engineer based out of Charlotte, NC (which is funny because he claims to love cold, rainy weather 🤔). Wes was previously at Databricks and Mark43, and we're pumped he joined Cinder! The Cinder hiring spree is not stopping here. Check out our jobs page; we've got a few more open roles listed (and more on the way): https://lnkd.in/e6RUF7ya

Hey folks, this Thursday I'm speaking at EDGES 2025, an intimate summit from Responsible Innovation Labs for founders, operators, and investors building at the technical, business, and human edge. EDGES aims to be a space for unfiltered conversations about hard decisions, responsible innovation, and leading through uncertainty. It should be a great event! Register here: lu.ma/edges

Folks who relate to the term Forward Deployed Engineer, Cinder is hiring! Don't recognize FDE, but want to work with us? Read on... Cinder's engineering org is the beating heart of the company. And we're rapidly hiring software craftspeople who *also love getting very involved with deployments, are great listeners, and laugh in the face of gnarly customer data challenges. Passion for online safety helpful, not required. FDE role here https://lnkd.in/gtJcKkwF Please read all the JD carefully! Why should you NOT work at Cinder: 1. you need a lot of certainty and predictability in your schedule 2. ambiguity in work projects isn't your thing 3. you're actually a citizen of the DPRK 4. passionate, hard-working teammates isn't important to you 5. you really dislike New York Pic for the algo

We are growing our NYC team! Thrilled to welcome these new folks to the Cinder mission: - Meg Frenkel is one of our new Software Engineers and she’s from Brooklyn. Meg previously worked on Trust and Safety at Instagram. She’s excited to scale safety best practices and make online communities more secure, AND she has run 3 (!) marathons. - Andrew Tam is our new Senior Software Engineer. Andrew also lives in Brooklyn and was previously at Mark43. He joined Cinder to continue the mission of building a safer online space for everyone. When he’s not scaling internet safety, he stays active playing basketball and volleyball, to name a few. We are excited to be scaling our NYC team. And we’re not stopping yet! Check out our jobs page for more open roles in the city: https://lnkd.in/gaTxZHg9

    Head of Engineering at Cinder

At Cinder we've been flooded with thousands of fraudulent applicants to just two job listings. Outside recruiting firms we hired? They wasted entire weeks unknowingly interviewing nothing but fraudsters. If this is our story, I worry what it looks like for Fortune 500s, with armies of contractors and recruiters who can’t possibly spot every fake. The NK IT worker problem is real, and it’s scaling fast. So we built our own defense. Using Cinder’s UI-based, drag-and-drop workflow builder, I stitched together an automated filtering system pulling from multiple distinct data sources to run insider threat detection. We're using it internally and loving it. It separates our recruiting arm from our insider threat checks, and its accuracy is incredible. The result? ⚡️ Dead-accurate fraud detection ⏱️ Zero recruiter time wasted ⭐ A hiring funnel we can finally trust This is too big a problem for any one company to solve alone. If your org is fighting the same battle, let’s talk. I’d love to share what we’ve built.

Cinder's CEO Glen Wise spoke to Alexios' Trust & Safety students at Cornell's NYC campus this week. He had a couple of key points: 1. Trust & Safety is a business function 2. Measurement is the key to success (and getting budget) 3. Operational needs should guide tools, not the other way around 4. We must prepare for an agentic world Moderation needs are myriad, and become clunky when manual workarounds supersede proper tools. Cinder is flexible enough to manage adversarial problems, reliable enough to depend on for mission-critical workflows, and powerful enough to produce better outcomes while reducing costs. And it works. Come join us: https://lnkd.in/gaTxZHg9

Cinder is a proud partner of StopNCII.org. StopNCII.org's annual conference is coming up in London - and we encourage all those committed to fostering a better internet, and a better society, to attend. Per the invite, "Discussions will highlight the critical role of survivor-informed policymaking, technical innovation, and multi-agency collaboration in reducing both the scale and harm of NCII abuse." Bottom line: it's a great opportunity to learn and build connections, including with Cinder's own Sam Freeman. Register here: https://lnkd.in/g-y6WiT6

I'm proud to announce Cinder’s partnership and integration with StopNCII, enabling platforms of all sizes to detect and mitigate non‑consensual intimate imagery on their platform through StopNCII’s global hash‑sharing database, available natively within Cinder without any additional engineering lift. At Cinder we're committed to ensuring companies can innovate at a rapid pace without compromising safety. Check out the blog post in the link in the comments!!!
