  • AI is transforming how we work, create, and communicate. The best part? WordPress is at the center of it all. At WordCamp US 2025, Matt Mullenweg joined Syde GmbH's Jade Englebrecht to talk about: 💡 How AI is making WordPress smarter and more accessible 🌐 Why the open web still matters in an AI-driven world 🏛️ How enterprises like NASA and the White House rely on WordPress 🧠 The legacy of openness Matt hopes to leave behind Watch the full conversation now. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gceu7dDp

  • Congrats to our very own Jesse Friedman, Head of WP Cloud, on receiving the 2025 Impact Award from i2Coalition! Jesse’s leadership and long-time contributions to WordPress and open source continue to shape the future of the open web. We’re so proud to see his work recognized. 👏

VP, Partnerships & Growth at WP Cloud

Tonight, my colleague and the Head of WP Cloud, Jesse Friedman, will be recognized with the Impact Award from i2Coalition. I couldn’t be prouder to see his incredible work celebrated!! The i2Coalition described Jesse perfectly: “It’s nearly impossible to work in the world of Internet infrastructure for very long without meeting Jesse Friedman—and completely impossible if you work in open source. He is the author of Web Designers Guide to WordPress and a member of the New Riders Voices that Matter series. Friedman is a former professor, as well as a long-term WordPress community contributor.” That description captures only a fraction of Jesse’s impact. His leadership at WP Cloud, our WordPress-first infrastructure that powers WordPress.com, Pressable, Newspack, Porkbun, Bluehost and more, is another testament to his vision and deep commitment to our open source community. I’m incredibly proud to work alongside Jesse and grateful for the opportunity to learn from him every day. Through my work with Jesse, I’ve learned so much about open source and what it truly means to make an impact. With that, I’ve met so many wonderful people along the way. Congratulations, Jesse, and enjoy the rest of your sabbatical! This recognition is so well deserved! 👏 #WordPress #OpenSource #WPCloud #i2Coalition #Leadership #ImpactAward #wpcloud Automattic

  • It’s all in the details. From the golden hour light spilling across leather chairs to shelves stacked with design inspiration and turntables ready to play, our NYC space is designed to spark joy and creativity. Every corner reminds us that the spaces we build matter just as much as the work we do within them.

  • At Automattic, we believe messaging should be open, not locked behind a walled garden. Thanks to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, Apple made changes that finally allow Beeper to deliver secure, reliable notifications on iOS. This milestone is a win for users, and a reminder of why openness and regulation matter. 📲 Read all about it on Beeper’s latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gE7hiXYT And from Matt Mullenweg: why this fight for openness matters for the future of the web: https://lnkd.in/gCNnYBMz

  • Being a fully distributed company means the sun never sets; it’s always daytime for someone, somewhere at Automattic. 🌍 To celebrate this global connection, Automatticians organize a 5K relay twice a year. Over the course of 24 hours, there’s always someone running, passing the virtual baton across time zones. 🏃🌎🏃♀️ Here are some highlights from last week’s relay! Some people say it’s the most beautiful space they’ve ever seen. We just call it home. Our NoHo HQ in New York City is more than just a workspace; it’s where creativity meets comfort, where Automatticians gather to design, build, and dream up the future of the open web. From sunlit meeting rooms to cozy corners lined with books and art, every space here reflects the spirit of openness and imagination that drives us.

Real-time performance monitoring is quickly becoming the hosting standard. In an exclusive HostingAdvice interview, Head of WP Cloud Jesse Friedman revealed the platform is building an Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tool to give hosts real-time visibility into WordPress performance. Case studies show APM can cut downtime by 60%, save $1.9M annually, and boost dev productivity by 15%. For hosts, this means fixing issues before customers even notice them. As AWS's Mindy Ferguson told Deloitte: “Having real-time data always available is becoming an expectation for customers. It’s the world we’re living in.” WP Cloud already powers providers like Bluehost and Pressable (which saw 58% YoY growth and 100% uptime). The new APM tool could be a game-changer for hosts navigating rising customer demands and WordPress’s steeper learning curve. Will APM become a must for WordPress hosting in the next few years? • At Automattic, we constantly push the boundaries of what's possible. Our latest experiment, Telex, represents a fundamental shift in how people interact with WordPress. What if users could simply describe what they want, instead of requiring deep technical knowledge, to create custom blocks? What if the barrier between idea and implementation disappeared entirely? Our answer is Telex: an experimental AI tool that transforms natural language into working WordPress code. It's about making development faster and accessible to everyone. 💙 This is experimental technology, and we're learning alongside our users. Try Telex now, and tell us what you think! 👇🚀 https://a8c.co/telex-li
