On this day, 102 years ago, a magical moment in history was made. ✨ Walt Disney arrived in California in the summer of 1923 full of hopes and dreams. Soon after, on October 16, 1923, Walt signed an agreement with a distributor for his "Alice Comedies," and this date became the start of The Walt Disney Company. 🎬 From humble beginnings as a cartoon studio in the early 1920s to the company of today—which includes Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Searchlight Pictures, and 20th Century Studios, along with Disney Parks and Resorts around the globe—Disney continues to provide timeless entertainment for the entire family. Recently, our #DisneyPublishing teams celebrated the 20th anniversary of Percy Jackson and the Olympians — an epic young adult saga that follows the adventures of Percy, a young demigod in the present day who discovers he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. 📚 ⚡ The franchise has been both a critical and commercial success since its debut. The first book in the series, The Lightning Thief, was named a Best Book for Young Adults by the American Library Association in 2006.
