Abstract
In a process for combatting rust formation in reinforced concrete a hle is drilled in the concrete and filled with a material which is more electropositive than the reinforcing material and in good electrical contact with it, and the surface of the concrete is covered with a foil of the same more electropositive material in good electrical contact with the material in the hole. Pref. the holes in the concrete are filled with (cast) Al or Al alloy and the surface of the concrete is covered with aluminium foil. The surface of the concrete is pref. treated with an alkaline soln. such as soda or potash soln. before applying the covering to promote the passage of the electrical current.
