Abstract

An installation for continuously applying a fluid reacting mixt. to a continuously moving web of material includes a dispenser with >=1 spray nozzles secured to a carriage. This moves forwards and backwards across the web, and flexible pipes connect the spray or sprays to >=1 stationary mixers. The fluid reacting mixt. forms polyurethane foam, and pref. flexible polyurethane foam1 the web consisting of partly continuous length of a floor covering material. The installation produces a backing of foam on a 4-5 1/2 metre wide carpet, which is flexible and up to 6mm thick. Speed of production is increased by relieving the carriage of the wt. of the mixer. The long flexible pipes do not have any harmful effect on the characteristics of the product.
