Description
Technical Field
A multi-function sink tool is described herein. More particularly, a combination brush for removing food waste from dishware, located at one end of the handle member, and a plug, pusher, or stuffer located distally of the brush for moving food waste into a food waste disposal outlet, such as a drain, and downwardly. The tool also relates to a plunger, pusher or stuffer for use in conjunction with a food waste disposal unit connected to a food waste disposal outlet.
Background
In most modern kitchens, the standard component of a kitchen sink is a food waste disposal outlet, such as a drain pipe housing a waste disposal unit or food waste disposer. It is expected that some consumers will have normal anxiety about placing their hands near the food waste disposal unit and therefore may utilize the product for pushing food waste into the food waste disposal unit.
For example, Mr Scappy MST-10 is a multi-function tool that is used as a plug and swage plug to push garbage into a food waste disposer. The tool includes a scraper for scraping food waste from a dish and a plunger for allowing food waste to fall through an opening in the food waste disposer, thereby eliminating the need for manual or use of eating utensils. The dish guard serves as a guard to prevent dishes or other objects from accidentally falling into the food waste disposer, and the tool can also serve as a stop when the sink needs to be filled with water.
Danco (Danco) manufactured a "Genie" garbage disposal filter. The garbage disposal strainer is not configured as a stop, but sits in the disposer and allows small food particles and water to freely flow into the food garbage disposer while preventing silverware and other items from sliding into the drain. With the puck in place, can be freely handled. The strainer includes a rubber scraper to push the food away from the dish and down into the drain.
The "Super filler" manufactured by nopro (Norpro) pushes the garbage and kitchen waste into the food waste disposer, and it can be stored in the sink drain to prevent tableware and smaller objects from falling into the food waste disposal unit.
Australian patent application No. au 68637/94 describes a swage plug or scraper for use in moving waste material-primarily food-into a food waste disposal outlet and moving it downwardly. The outlet may be of the kind connectable to a food waste disposal unit. The swage plug may also be used to sit in a drain pipe when the unit is in use, so that water flows through the swage plug, or it may be used as a plug. The swage plug includes a handle, two or more scraping blades, and two collars with a groove in the lower portion thereof. Each collar is fitted with a replaceable gasket for sealing the swage plug in the drain pipe.
However, the above-described tools have the disadvantage that it is difficult to clean and remove food waste from the dish by means of scrapers ("not present in the" super-filler "), because these tools are configured to engage directly with the disposal outlet, and are limited in their movement when trying to push the food waste into the food waste disposer.
Lebran and SigaoTM(Libman and Scotch-BriteTM) A kitchen brush with a circular brush head was manufactured. In addition to cleaning dishes and tableware, the circular brush head may also be used as a swage plug to push garbage into a food waste disposer. However, when used as a plunger, pusher or packer, the bristles may be damaged when contacting the disposer lugs.
Ouguio (Ouguio)TMStainless steel (Oxo)TMSteel) made a long handle cutlery brush with a soft button that could double as a seal. Opening the seal allows the user to fill the body with soap. Pressing the button reseals the opening and dispenses soap. The bristles on the brush can wipe away baked goods and the like. However, a disadvantage of this brush is that it cannot be used as an efficient plunger, as the bristles may be damaged when they contact the disposer's lugs (as in the case of the aforementioned lebermann and sikken brushes)TM(Libman and Scotch-BriteTM) A brush).
U.S. patent No.5,377,362 discloses a combined sink strainer and scrub brush unit with or without a sink stop tray that is placed in the food waste disposer inlet so as to hang from the bottom of the sink. The horizontal filter base has a series of drain holes therein and a series of spaced apart brush elements either molded with or attached to the base so as to be suspended therefrom. Attached to the base is a handle for manually removing the unit from the food waste disposer inlet and for manually manipulating the unit to scrape/wipe food and other debris from the surfaces of the dish, cooking pot, and sink into the sink and the disposer inlet. A rubber stopper disc is mounted on top of the base for rotational and sliding movement on the base. In the drain "open" position, the radial drain holes in the stop disk may be aligned with the base drain holes, while in the drain "closed" sealing position, the radial drain holes in the stop disk are offset from the base drain holes.
However, the above-described combined sink filter and scrub brush unit has a disadvantage in that it is engaged with the food waste disposer inlet and thus cannot be used as a plunger to push food waste into the food waste disposer.
Other aspects and advantages of the multifunction sink tool will become apparent from the ensuing description which is given by way of example only.
