DK 2024 70081 A1 1
BLANK AND A DISPLAY COLUMN FORMED OF A BLANK
The present invention relates to a blank for forming a display column, and more particularly to a blank as defined in the preamble of the independent claim 1,
The present invention also relates to a display column formed of a planar blank, and more particularity to a display column as defined in the preamble of the independent claim 15.
The invention belongs to the field of blanks for forming a display column, and display columns formed from planar blanks, which means objects formed as three-dimensional stands or pillars that are typically used for advertising or presenting information.
In known prior art, display columns, which are typically used as pop-up signage columns, ie, as poles intended as temporary elements in shops or trade fairs, for example, are usually formed frem cardboard sheets in such a way that they have a separate outer shell and a separate support coming inside the outer shell, which are attached to each other using various attachment materials, such as rubber bands or clips. Setting up such a display column takes time and easily requires several people, because the separate parts have to be attached to each other so that the display post can stand firmly in an upright position on the floor or other surface.
An object of the present invention is to provide a blank and a display — column which overcome or at least alleviate the problems of the prior art.
The objects of the invention are achieved by a blank and a display column which are characterized by what is stated in the independent claims. The preferred embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the dependent claims.
With the expression display column is meant a display stand or a signage pillar, which is made from a blank by folding or shaping it into a cofumn form and can be used for example as a standing column in exhibitions. The display column is typically made of a material which is originally in a blank form and is easily shaped from a blank to a display column. The column form meaning that the display is a three dimensional display. With the word blank is meant a piece of
DK 2024 70081 A1 2 material which intended for further shaping or finishing it into a display column.
The invention is based on the idea of a blank for forming a display colin, where the blank comprises a functional pattern in a folding areas of the blank, which is bend when forming the display column in such a way that the functional pattern forms three-dimensional shapes in that area and distributes tension of the bend over a larger area, thus avoiding the use of internal elements in the display element and the display element can only be built from the blank alone.
A blank for forming a display column according to the invention has a first longitudinal side edge and a second longitudinal side edge opposite to the first longitudinal side edge and a top edge and a bottom edge opposite to the top edge,
The blank comprising a functional pattern area for bending the blank to erect the display column, a first plain area extending between the first longitudinal side edge and the functional pattern area, and a second plain area extending between the second longitudinal side edge and the functional pattern area. The functional pattern area extending in the blank in a direction between the top edge and the bottom edge and comprising pattern shapes defined by functional pattern lines in the blank,
The blank according to the invention is a planar blank which means that the surface of the blank is flat and the blank is in a sheet form, The blank comprises > a first longitudinal side having the first longitudinal side edge and a second fongitudinal side having the second longitudinal side edge, and a middle portion between the first longitudinal side and the second longitudinal side.
In a preferred embodiment of the blank, the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge are longer than the top edge and the bottom — edge extending in the transverse direction with respect to the first and second longitudinal side edges. The functional pattern area is provided in the middle portion of the blank between the first longitudinal side and the second longitudinal side of the blank. Accordingly, the functional pattern area preferably extends in the longitudinal direction of the blank. The longitudinal direction of the blank being the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge. However, the functional pattern area, while extending in the direction between the first and bottom edges, does not necessarily extend from the top edge to the bottom edge, but instead may extend a distance from the top edge or the bottom edge, or both,
In another embodiment of the blank, the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge are shorter than the top edge and the bottom
DK 2024 70081 A1 3 edge extending in the transverse direction with respect to the first and second longitudinal side edges.
The functional pattern area comprises pattern shapes defined by functional pattern lines in the blank, which means that the pattern shapes are formed in the blank from lines that provide functionality to the pattern shape when the blank is used. Functionality means that the area or shape in the blank formed by functional pattern lines works differently than a plain area or shape in the blank without functional pattern lines when the blank is used. The pattern shape in the blank is any 2-dimensional shape formed with lines.
According to the invention, the pattern shapes of the functional pattern area are polygon shapes, and/or circular shapes, and/or semi-circular shapes, and/or shapes formed from curved and straight lines. The polygon shapes are for example triangles, guadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and rhombuses. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the polygon shapes forming the functional pattern area are interconnected triangles.
According to the invention, the blank further comprising fastening means to provide a display column fastening. The fastening means provided in connection with the blank are arranged to connect the first and second longitudinal sides of the blank together to erect the display column,
According to the invention the fastening means comprise at least one focking tab in connection with the second longitudinal side edge and at least one slot in connection with the first plain area which when combined together provide a display column fastening.
The at least one locking tab and the at least one slot are provided to the blank for forming a shape of a column from the blank, when the at least one locking tab and the at least one slot are connected together. The at least one locking tab in connection with the second longitudinal side edge may extend away from the second longitudinal side edge, ie, protruding from the second longitudinal side edge, or may extend within the second longitudinal side edge which means that the at least one locking tab is formed next to the second longitudinal side edge in the second plain area,
According to an embodiment of the invention the at least one locking tab is arranged to extend from the second longitudinal side edge to on opposite direction than the second plain area such that the at least ane locking tab protrudes from the second longitudinal side edge, In other words, the at least one locking tab is arranged to protrude from the second longitudinal side, which means that the at
DK 2024 70081 A1 4 least one locking tab protrudes from the line formed by the second longitudinal side edge.
According to another embodiment of the invention the at least one locking tab is arranged to extend in the second plain area next to the second longitudinal side. In this case, the at least one locking tab is formed from the plain area of the blank by separating the movable part of the locking tab from the rest of the blank, for example, by cutting.
The blank comprises at least one locking tab, which means that the blank may comprise only one locking tab or several locking tabs.
According to the invention the at least one locking tab comprises a main tab portion and atleast one wing portion extending from the main tab portion, The main tab portion is separated from the rest of the blank by a folding line and the at least one wing portion is separated from the main tab portion by another folding line, The at least one wing portion can be folded or bent relative to the main tab portion by means of the folding line without affecting the rest of the blank. in an embodiment of the invention the main tab portion comprises wing portions on both sides of the main tab portion.
According to the invention the first plain area comprises a first longitudinal functional line extending between the top edge and the bottom edge and comprises at least one slot extending along the first longitudinal functional line.
In an embodiment of the invention the first longitudinal functional line extends parallel to the first longitudinal side edge, The at least one slot is arranged to extend parallel to the first longitudinal side edge in the first plain area, The at least one slot is arranged in the first plain area such that there remains a strip of the blank between the first longitudinal side edge and the slot that can be folded or bent away from the plane of the blank when the display column is erected.
According to the invention the first longitudinal functional line is arranged closer to the first longitudinal side edge than the functional pattern area, and preferably next to the first longitudinal side edge. Advantageously, the first longitudinal functional line is arranged closer to the first longitudinal side edge than a centre line of the first plain area extending in the middle of the first plain area in a direction between the bottom edge and the top edge.
According to the invention the blank further comprises at least one latitudinal functional line for folding the blank flat, said at least one latitudinal
DK 2024 70081 A1 functional line extends in a direction between the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge,
The at least one latitudinal functional line is used to fold the blank into a more compact form. In a preferred embodiment, the latitudinal functional line 5 can be made by partially cutting the blank in the thickness direction so that the cut does not go through the full thickness of the blank, half-piercing the blank in such a way that the blank is weakened at the point of the latitudinal functional line or using crease lines.
According to the invention the functional pattern area is arranged to extend continuously in the blank from the top edge to the bottom edge.
Alternatively, the functional pattern area can be arranged to extend discontinuously in the blank in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge in such a way that the functional pattern area comprises at least one plain area, Alternatively, the functional pattern area is arranged to extend from the top edgetoward the bottom edge to an end plain area arranged between the functional pattern area and the bottom edge, Alternatively, the functional pattern area is arranged to extend from the bottom edge toward the top edge to an end plain area arranged between the functional pattern area and the top edge. Alternatively, the functional pattern area can be arranged to extend discontinueusly in the blank in the direction between the top sdge and the bottom edge in such a way at least one plain area is defined between the first plain area and the second plain area.
In other words, the functional pattern area extends either continuously or discontinuousiy in the blank in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge, In the case that the functional pattern area extends continuously in the blank in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge, there are no empty areas between the functional pattern area which are without the functional pattern. In the case that the functional pattern area extends discontinuously in the blank in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge, the functional pattern area alternates with at least one empty area within the functional pattern area.
The functional pattern area may start from the top edge so that the functional pattern area extends from the top edge toward the bottom edge and ends before the bottom edge, so that an end plain area without the functional pattern is arranged between the functional pattern area and the bottom edge.
Alternatively, the functional pattern area may start from the bottom edge so that the functional pattern area extends from the bottom edge toward the top edge and
DK 2024 70081 A1 6 ends before the top edge, so that an end plain area without the functional pattern is arranged between the functional pattern area and the top edge, Alternatively, the functional pattern area may extend from the top edge to the bottom edge, or alternatively, the functional pattern area may extend in the blank in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge in such a way that it starts after the top edge and ends before the bottom edge, in which case an end plain area without functional pattern remains between the functional pattern area and the top edge or between the functional pattern area and the bottom edge. The functional pattern areas in each alternatives may be continuous or discontinuous as earlier explained. — The functional pattern area may comprise several portions of functional patterns such that there are plain areas between areas of the functional pattern, or a plain area or plain areas are within the functional pattern area.
According to the invention the pattern shapes of the functional pattern area are polygon shapes, and the polygon shapes are interconnected triangles which are equilateral triangles arranged in the blank such that bases of the triangles extend parallel to the top edge and/or the bottom edge of the blank.
The triangles are preferably arranged in the blank such that a pair of triangles have a common base and tips of the triangles point in opposite directions toward towards the top and bottom edges, and the next pair of triangles is formed so that the tip of the other triangle of the pair meets the tip of the triangle of the previous pair. The pairs of triangles form a triangle line having multiple triangle pairs extending in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge, and multiple triangle lines can be arranged next to each other in the direction between the first and second longitudinal side edges of the blank so that the functional pattern area is formed by the triangle lines.
According to the invention the interconnerted triangles of the blank are formed such that sides of each triangle are made with different kind of functional pattern lines than a base of the triangle enabling triangles three-dimensional shape when bending the blank,
The functional pattern lines of the sides of each triangle and the hase of each triangle are folding lines, The base of each triangle is preferably formed with such functional pattern lines that enable stronger bending of the material compared to the functional pattern lines that form the sides of each triangle, As the base of each triangle extends in the direction between the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge, the base of each triangle distributes tension from the bend over a larger area in the width direction of the blank when
DK 2024 70081 A1 7 the blank is bent to form the display column by bringing the first and second longitudinal side edges towards each other. The width direction of the blank is the direction between the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge, while the length direction of the blank is the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge.
The sides of each triangle are preferably formed by bending in the blank in such a way that it allows the material of the blank to deflect outwards or inwards when the display column is erected, the bending is achieved by using crease lines.
The base of each triangle is preferably formed with half-knife cuts or scores in the — blank, which allow the material of the blank to deflect more strongly outwards or inwards relative to the sides of the triangles when the blank is deformed as a display column.
According to the invention the functional pattern lines defining the pattern shapes are crease lines, or score lines, or both,
According to the invention the blank is corrugated board material, or cardboard, or paperboard,
A display column formed from a single blank according to the invention has a first longitudinal side edge and a second longitudinal side edge opposite to the first longitudinal side edge and a top edge and a bottom edge opposite to the top edge. The display column comprises a bending section and a connection section. The bending section is obtained by bending the blank and bringing the fongitudinai side edges closer to each other, and the connection section is obtained by connecting at least one locking tab protruding away from the second longitudinal side edge of the blank to at least one slot cut through a first longitudinal functional line provided next to and extending parallel to the first longitudinal side edge of the blank.
The display column preferably has a teardrop shaped cross section which comprises a curved shape which tapers to a tip. Although referred as the teardrop shaped cross section the curved shape may has deviations due to the functional pattern. The tip of the teardrop shaped cross section is opposite to the curved shape. The curved shape is achieved by bending the blank and bringing the longitudinal side edges closer to each other, and then from the point where the bending starts, the curved shape is formed, ie. the bending section. The fongitudinal side edges of the blank are connected together with a locking tab - slot connection. The at least one locking tab is arranged in connection with the second {fongitudinal side edge and the at least one slot is arranged in connection with the
DK 2024 70081 A1 8 first longitudinal side edge, so that at the tip of the teardrop shaped cross section the opposite longitudinal sides of the blank are in contact with each other. When the at least one locking tab extending from the second longitudinal side edge of the blank is pushed through the slot arranged in connection of the opposite longitudinal side of the blank, ie. the side having the first longitudinal side edge, said second longitudinal side edge contacts with the first longitudinal functional line of the opposite longitudinal side, in which the slot is arranged, and the first tongitudinal side edge contacts on the inside of the display column the opposite longitudinal side of the blank, i.e. the side having the second longitudinal side edge.
According to the invention the bending section comprises a functional pattern area which extends in the blank in a direction between the top edge and the bottom edge and comprises pattern shapes defined by functional pattern lines in the blank, the pattern shapes of the functional pattern area form a 3-dimensional pattern at the bending section by virtue of bending the blank.
The pattern shapes in the blank are any 2-dimensional shapes formed with lines, The pattern shapes are polygon shapes, and/or circular shapes, and/or semi-circular shapes, and/or shapes formed from curved and straight lines, The polygon shapes are for example triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and rhembuses.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the polygon shapes defined by functional pattern lines in the blank are interconnected triangles. The plurality of interconnected triangles defined by functional pattern lines are preferably formed such that a pair of triangles have a common base and tips of the triangles point in opposite directions toward towards the top and bottom edges, and the next pair of triangles is formed so that the tip of the other triangle of the pair meets the tip of the triangle of the previous pair. The pairs of triangles form a triangle line having nultiple triangle pairs extending in the direction between the top edge and the bottom edge, and multiple triangle lines can be arranged next to each other in the direction between the first and second longitudinal side edges of the blank so that the functional pattern area is formed by the triangle lines. The bases of the triangles preferably extend in the width direction of the blank, which is the direction between the first longitudinal side edge and the second longitudinal side edge, The bases of the triangles are preferably formed with functional pattern lines that are stronger foldable shape lines than the functional pattern lines of the sides ofthe triangles, which makes the triangles more stable in shape when the blank is
DK 2024 70081 A1 9 bent into the shape of the display column and the triangles have the three- dimensional shape,
According to the invention, the connection section comprises the at least one locking tab of the blank and the at least one slot of the blank connected together, where the at least one locking tab comprises a main tab portion and at least one wing portion extending from the main tab portion, and where a connection between the at least one locking tab and the at least one slot is arranged by folding the at least one wing portion over the main tab portion, and sliding the folded wing portion together with the main tab portion through the at least one slot, and by unfolding the at least one wing portion after stiding to lock the ensemble,
The at least one locking tab is preferably formed with the main tab portion comprising at least one wing portion, and in a preferable embodiment of the invention the main tab portion comprises wing portions on opposite side edges of the main tab portion and the base of the main tab portion extends from the second longitudinal side edge of the blank, The at least one wing portion comprises functional fold line so that the wing portion can be folded over the main tab portion before the locking tab is slid through the slot.
According to the invention the display column further comprises side — wall sections which are formed between the bending section and the connection section, the side wall sections comprise a plain area of the blank which extends in the blank in a direction between the top edge and the bottom edge.
In other words, the blank comprises plain areas extending between the top edge and the bottom edge of the blank, and such that the functional pattern area is in the width direction of the blank between the plain areas. Therefore, the side wall sections of the display column are plain without any functional pattern.
According to the invention the display column is a hollow column, This means that the blank forms the display cohomn and there is an empty space inside the display column.
According to the invention the display cohumin is formed from the blank alone, This means that the display column consists of the blank,
According to the invention the display cohumn is formed from the blank according to as described in this application,
The advantage of the invention is thar the functional pattern of the blank makes it possible to form a display column without internal elements, because the functional pattern formed by three-dimensional shapes around the
DK 2024 70081 A1 10 bending part of the display column distributes the stress from bending over a larger area and creates a push effect outwards when the longitudinal ends of the blank are connected together. This allows the display column to be made of one type of material only which makes it also easier to be recycled.
The invention is described in detail by means of specific embodiments with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which

Figure 10 shows a blank according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows a blank 1 according to the invention, which the blank 1 has a first longitudinal side edge Za, a second longitudinal side edge 2b, a top edge 2c and a bottom edge 2d. The blank 1 is a planar sheet-like blank which is made of for example corrugated board material, cardboard, or paperboard. The direction between the top edge Zc and the bottom edge 2d define the length direction of the blank 1, and the direction between the first longitudinal side edge 2a and the second longitudinal side edge 2b define the width direction of the blank 1. The blank 1 for forming a display column 10 has preferably greater length than width.
The length of the blank i can be for example between 100 cm - 250 cm and the width of the blank 1 can be for example between 60 cm - 200 cm. The blank 1 — shown in figure 1 comprises two latitudinal functional lines 9 for folding the blank
I into a folded shape, which means that the blank 1 can be folded with the help of the latitudinal functional lines 9 in such a way that it only takes up a third of its original size, The blank 1 further comprises functional pattern lines 31, 32 which form interconnected triangles providing three-dimensional shapes when the blank — 1is bent, The interconnected triangles form a functional pattern area 3 inthe blank
DK 2024 70081 A1 11 1 such that a first and second plain area 4, 5 are provided on both sides of the functional pattern area 3 in the width direction of the blank 1. In the example of the blank 1 in figure I the functional pattern area 3 extends from the top edge Zc tø the bottom edge 2d and is provided in the middle of the blank 1. However, the functional pattern area 3 does not need to extend from the top edge 2c to the bottom edge 2d but may end before either or both the top edge Zc or bottom edge 2d. The blank 1 further comprises fastening means for forming the display column by connecting the sides of the blank 1 together. The figure 1 shows multiple locking tabs 6 extending away from the second longitudinal side edge 2b. The locking tabs 6 comprise a main tab portion 6a and wing portions 6b on both sides of the main tab portion 6a. There is a functional fold line extending between the wing portion 6b and the main tab portion 6a, which allows the wing portion 6b to be folded against the main tab portion 6a, when the locking tab 6 is pushed through a slot 7, and on the other side of the slot 7 the wing portion 6b can be opened again in an unfolded state, so that the locking tab & becomes locked in the slot. The blank I comprises the slots 7 in the vicinity of the first longitudinal side edge 2a, The slots 7 are provided along a first longitudinal functional line 8 extending parallel to the first longitudinal side edge 2a and comprising the slots 7 extending along the first longitudinal functional line 8. The first longitudinal functional line 8 is preferably provided as a crease line which allows the blank 1 to bend or fold along the first fongitudinal functional line 8. This allows the first longitudinal side edge 2a to settle against the second plain area 5 of the blank 1 when the display column 10 is formed,
Figure 2 shows a blank 1 according to the invention when folded along — the latitudinal functional lines 9. In Figure 2 blank 1 is shown in two different situations, first on the left side in the situation when the blank 1 is being folded and on the right side in the situation where the blank is completely folded. The blank 1 folds along the latitudinal functional lines 9, which the blank 1 may comprise one or more, and in the example shown in figure 2 there are two latitudinal functional lines 9 se that the blank 1 is folded three times. The figure 2 also shows that the functional pattern area 3 formed hy functional pattern lines is only formed on one side of the blank 1 in the example shown in figure 2. This is because the functional pattern lines are preferably crease lines or score lines, which weaken the blank material, sa it is sufficient that they are arranged only on one side of the blank 1, so that the material does not break, Other features shown in figure 2 are already described in connection with the figure 1.
DK 2024 70081 A1 12
Figure 3 shows forming a display column 10 from a blank 1 already described in connection with the figure 1. As shown in the figure 3, the blank 1 is hent by bringing the first longitudinal side edge 2a and the second longitudinal side edge 2b towards each other, whereby the blank 1 bends from the functional pattern area 3. The functional pattern area 3 formed by the functional pattern lines is provided inside the display column 10 and fornis the back of the display column while the first and second plain areas 4, 5 form the sides of the display column 10.
The locking tabs 6 protruding from the second longitudinal side edge 2b are bent along from the second longitudinal side edge 2b towards the opposing side edge of the blank 1, therefore the locking tabs 6 are preferably provided with functional edge lines 61 so that bending of the locking tabs 6 is easier, The functional edge lines 61 are preferably crease lines. The functional edge lines 61 are not mandatory but bending the locking tab 6 becomes much easier when the material is slightly weakened with the functional edge line 61, The wing portions 6b on both sides of the main tab portion 6a are bent against the main tab portion 6a as can be seen in the first locking tab 6 on the left so that the locking tab 6 fits through the slot 7, The slots 7 in connection with the first longitudinal side edge 2a are arranged to extend along the first longitudinal functional line 8 and said slots 7 are provided at a distance from each other along the first longitudinal functional line 8. The first longitudinal functional line 8 extends between the top edge Zc and the bottom edge 2d parallel to the first longitudinal side edge Za and provides bending capability for the first longitudinal side edge 2a so that a bending area 4a is formed between the first longitudinal side edge 2a and the first longitudinal functional line 8, The bending area 4a is bent towards the interior of the forming display column so that the slots 8 open and the locking tabs 6 can be pushed through the slots 7.
Figure 4 shows a detail of forming a display column 10 from a blank 1, in which the wing portions 6b of the locking tab 6 are not yet bent against the main tab portion 6a, The figure shows the locking tab 6 in more detail, which also shows the functional edge lines 61, with the help of which the main tab portion 6a is bent in relation to the second longitudinal side edge 2b, and the functional fold lines 62, with the help of which the wing portions 6b are bent away from the direction of the main tab portion 6a and finally behind the main tab portion 6a, All the other features shown in figure 4 are already discussed in connection with the figure 3.
Figure 5 shows a detail of forming a connection between the first longitudinal side and the second longitudinal side of the blank 1, The wing portions 6b of the locking tab 6 are folded behind the main tab portion 6a so they are not
DK 2024 70081 A1 13 visible in the figure 5 and the locking tab & is towards the slot 7 to be pushed through the slot 7. The bending area 4a formed between the first longitudinal side edge 2a and the first longitudinal functional line 8 is bent towards the interior of the display column 10. All the other features shown in figure 5 are already discussed in connection with the figure 3.
Figure 6 shows a display column 10 as seen from one end of the display column 10. The functional pattern area 3 appears on the outer surface of the display column because although the functional pattern lines are arranged on the other side of the blank 1, the functional pattern area 3 appears on the outer surface — of the display column 10 due to the three dimensional shapes of the triangles formed when the blank 1 is bent to form the display column 10, The longitudinal sides of the blank I have been connected together with the locking tabs 6 and the slots 7 such that the locking tabs 6 have been pushed through the slots 7 and the wing portions 6b of the locking tabs 6 have been opened such that the locking tabs 6 cannot be pulled straight out through the slots 7 again, but the longitudinal sides stay connected, The bending area 4a of the first longitudinal side which is formed between the first longitudinal side edge 2a and the first longitudinal functional line 8 is settled against an inner surface of the second longitudinal side of the blank I.
Figure 7 shows a display column as seen from different sides on the outside of the — display column 10.
The figure 7 shows how the functional pattern area 3 provides three- dimensional shapes on the back of the display column 18, and figure 8 shows the display column 10 as seen from a front of the display column 10 showing that the functional pattern area 3 providing the three dimensional shapes on the back of — the display column 10 preferably extends between the top edge 2c and the bottom edge 2d.
Figure 9 shows a cross section of the display column 10 formed according as shown in figures 3-6. The display column 10 has a teardrop shaped cross section having a bending section 11 obtained by bending the blank 1 by — bringing the first longitudinal side of the blank I and the second longitudinal side of the blank 1 towards each other, and a connection section 12 obtained by connecting at least one locking tab 6 protruding away from the second longitudinal side edge 2b of the blank 1 to at least one slot 7 extending along a first longitudinal functional line 8 provided next to and extending parallel to the first longitudinal side edge 2a of the blank 1, When the locking tabs 6 have been pushed through the slots 7, the wing portions 6b of the locking tabs 6 are opened inside the display
DK 2024 70081 A1 14 column 10 so that the locking tabs é cannot slide out of the slots 7, in which case the display column 10 would open. The bending section 11 comprises the functional pattern 3 which is not shown in this figure but has been disclosed in previous figures. The teardrop shaped cross section of the display column 10 further comprises side wall sections 13, 14 which are formed between the bending section 11 and the connection section 12. The side wall sections 13, 14 comprise a plain area 4, 5 of the blank 1 without functional pattern.
Figure 10 shows a blank 1 according to the invention, which the blank
I has a first longitudinal side edge 23, a second longitudinal side edge 2b, atop edge 2cand a bottom edge 2d. The blank 1 shown in figure 10 has the same features as already presented in the blank shown in figure 1 except that the fastening means for forming the display column by connecting the sides of the blank 1 together isin this figure different than in the figure 1 as now explained. The fastening means for erecting the display column comprise at least one adhesive tape 17 provided in connection with the first longitudinal side of the blank 1 in the vicinity of the first longitudinal side edge 2a. The at {east one adhesive tape 17 is provided to extend in the direction between the top edge 2¢ and the bottom edge 2d, and preferably parallel to the first longitudinal side edge 2a. The blank 1 may comprise a first longitudinal functional line 8 extending parallel to the first longitudinal side edge 2a. The first longitudinal functional line 8 is preferably provided as a crease line which allows the blank 1 to bend or fold along the first longitudinal functional line &. This allows the first longitudinal side edge 2a to settle against the second plain area 5 of the blank I when the display column 10 is formed by connecting the first and second longitudinal sides together with the at least one adhesive tape 17 so that the adhesive tape 17 is connected to the second longitudinal side of the blank 1 on the other side of the blank 1, where the adhesive tape 17 is. However, the first longitudinal functional line 8 is not mandatory when the at least one adhesive tape 17 connects the first and second longitudinal sides of the blank 1 on the same side of the blank 1 on which the adhesive tape 17 is arranged.
The invention has been described above with reference to the examples shown in the figures. However, the invention is in no way restricted to the above examples but may vary within the scope of the claims.
