  2. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the right edge, characterised in that the following steps are carried out with a knitting system and with a thread carrier:
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and subsequently knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and forming a loop on a previously free edge needle (B8) of the front needle bed,
    forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage,
    transferring the loop (B8), with a first knitting system and from left to right along the carriage, to the opposite empty needle (b8) of the back needle bed, and knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed with a further knitting system,
    forming a row of stitches from right to left along the carriage with the cooperation of the edge needle (b8) with the loop,
    firstly knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and subsequently knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage and forming a loop on a previously free edge needle (a9) of the back needle bed,
    forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage without the cooperation of the edge needle (a9) with the loop,
    transferring the loop formed (a9) from the back needle bed to the opposite needle (A9) of the front needle bed with the first knitting system and from left to right along the carriage, and subsequently forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed with the cooperation of the needle (A9) with the transferred loop, with a further knitting system and in the same direction along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage and then knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage, then knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage,
    repeating the steps until the desired length and shape of the knitted fabric piece are achieved.
  3. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the left edge, characterised in that the following steps are carried out with a knitting system and a thread carrier:
    forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage and subsequently forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage,
    forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches of the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage and forming a loop on a previously free edge needle (a3) of the back needle bed,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage,
    with the first knitting system, and from right to left along the carriage, transferring the loop (a3) from the back needle bed to the opposite empty edge needle (A3) of the front needle bed and knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed with a further knitting system,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage with the cooperation of the edge needle (A3) with the loop,
    firstly knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage, then knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage and forming a loop with a previously free edge needle (B2) of the front needle bed,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage,
    with the first knitting system, and from right to left along the carriage, transferring the loop (B2) from the front needle bed to the opposite empty edge needle (b2) of the back needle bed, and subsequently, with a further knitting system and in the opposite direction along the carriage, knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed with the cooperation of the edge needle (b2) with the loop,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and subsequently knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage,
    repeating the steps until the knitted fabric piece has reached the desired length and shape.
  4. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the right edge, characterised in that the following steps are carried out with a knitting system and a thread carrier:
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage and forming a loop on a previously empty edge needle (b8) at the right edge of the knitted fabric on the back needle bed,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage without the involvement of the edge needle (b8) with the loop, then forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage,
    forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage with the involvement of the edge needle (b8) with the loop,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, then in the opposite direction along the carriage on the back needle bed, then from left to right again on the front needle bed,
    forming a loop from right to left along the carriage on a previously free edge needle (A9) of the front needle bed and knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed,
    forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage with the involvement of the edge needle (A9) with the loop,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in a knitting direction from right to left,
    repeating the steps until the desired length and shape of the knitted fabric piece are achieved.
  5. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the left edge, characterised in that the following steps are carried out with a knitting system and a thread carrier:
    forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage and forming a loop on a previously empty edge needle (A3) on the front needle bed at the left end of the knitted fabric,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage without the involvement of the edge needle (A3),
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage,
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage with the involvement of the edge needle (A3) with the loop,
    knitting a row of stitches firstly on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage, then on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and then on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage again,
    forming a loop from left to right along the carriage on a previously empty edge needle (b2) of the back needle bed, and subsequently knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed,
    forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage with the involvement of the edge needle (b2),
    firstly forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from left to right along the carriage, and subsequently forming a row of stitches on the back needle bed from right to left along the carriage,
    repeating the steps until the desired length and shape of the knitted fabric are achieved.
  6. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the right edge, characterised by the steps:
    with the leading knitting system and a first thread carrier (FF3), and from right to left along the carriage, firstly producing a loop on a previously empty edge needle (b8) of the back needle bed and then producing a row of stitches on the front needle bed,
    then knitting a further row of stitches on the front needle bed with the following knitting system and with a second thread carrier (FF2),
    subsequently knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage with the leading knitting system and the first thread carrier (FF3), with the cooperation of the edge needle (b8) with the loop, and knitting a further row of stitches on the back needle bed with the following knitting system and the second thread carrier (FF2), without the cooperation of the edge needle (b8),
    then forming, by both knitting systems, a row of stitches on the front needle bed from right to left along the carriage and on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage, wherein a loop on a previously empty edge needle (A9) of the front needle bed is formed by the following knitting system and the second thread carrier,
    subsequently forming a row of stitches on the front needle bed from right to left along the carriage both with the leading and the following knitting systems, using the first and second thread carriers (FF3, FF2),
    knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage and forming a stitch with a needle (A9) of the front needle bed, with the leading knitting system and with the first thread carrier (FF3), before a row of stitches is produced on the back needle bed with the following knitting system and the second thread carrier (FF2),
    repeating the steps until the desired length and shape of the knitted fabric are achieved.
  7. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the left edge, characterised by the steps:
    knitting a row of stitches on the front needle bed from right to left along the carriage and forming a loop on a previously empty edge needle (b2) of the back needle bed, with the leading knitting system and with a first thread carrier (FF2),
    subsequently knitting a further row of stitches on the front needle bed by the following knitting system,
    then knitting a row of stitches on the back needle bed in the opposite direction along the carriage both with the leading knitting system and with the following knitting system, wherein the edge needle (b2) does not cooperate with the loop, before a row of stitches on the front needle bed is produced from right to left along the carriage again with the leading knitting system and with the first thread carrier (FF2),
    then casting off the loop on the edge needle of the back needle bed with the formation of a loop on a previously empty edge needle (A2) of the front needle bed,
    repeating the steps until the desired length and shape of the knitted fabric are achieved.
  8. A method according to claim 1 for increasing the stitches at the left and at the right edge by the simultaneous application of one of the methods according to claims 2, 4 and 6 and of one of the methods according to claims 3, 5 and 7.
