Abstract

In a hinged lid box-type cigarette package, box side walls (24) and cover side walls (25) are made of wall sections (27, 28, 29) disposed adjacent to one another to mutually form a polygonal layout. The wall sections (27..29) are preferably designed with the same width and aligned at the same angles relative to one another and to the front and back side of the package.

Description

The invention relates to a cigarette packet of the Hinge Lid type, with a box part, a lid and a preferably made of a separate blank collar, which consists of mutually partially overlapping side lobes existing box side walls and lid side walls by polygon-like closing wall sections, according to Preamble of claim 1.

Known is a cigarette pack of the aforementioned type with bevelled (upright) packing edges, so that the package has an overall octagonal contour ( EP 0 204 933 . DE 201 01 554 U1 . DE 36 45 111 C2 ). The oblique material strips in the region of the pack edges are adapted to the dimensions of the cigarettes and narrow in relation to a transverse, middle strip of material. Another pack with octagonal contour is from the DE 103 14 375 A1 known. From the US 6,487,468 In addition, a package is known in which the side walls each consist of five adjoining wall sections.

The invention has for its object to provide a novel package in which an improved adaptation of the outer contour of the shape of the package contents, namely given to a cigarette block, the machinability of the pack and also their handling by the consumer are guaranteed.

To solve this problem, a folding box according to the invention has the features of claim 1.

Another special feature of the package according to the invention is that mutually overlapping and interconnected edge regions of the side flaps of box part and cover do not cover each other over the entire surface, but with slight misalignment, so that a free edge of the outer edge flap is set back against an immediately adjacent fold edge.

The self-contained collar is conformed to the contour of the package by forming polygonal collar side flaps, including an edge ridge in the region of a wall panel facing the back of the package.

It is about the external shape and constructive design of a cigarette pack of the type folding box or Hinge Lid. It corresponds to the standard construction of this packing type that a (lower) box part 10 and a lid 11 in the rear area of the package are pivotally connected to each other by a line joint 12. The lid 11 may between a closed position according to Fig. 4 and an open position according to Fig. 3 to be moved. Box part 10 and lid 11 form a unit.

Within the pack, a collar 13 is arranged. This consists of a collar front wall 14 and collar side tabs 15, 16. The collar 13 is anchored to a lower anchoring area in the box part 10, in particular by gluing. An upper portion of the collar 13 is covered by the lid 11 in its closed position.

Box part 10 and lid 11 consist of a one-piece blank, in particular in the embodiment according to Fig. 1 , The blank is constructed on the principle of longitudinal folding with successive areas for a box front wall 17, bottom wall 18, box rear wall 19, lid rear wall 20, end wall 21, cover front wall 22 and cover inner tabs 23. The line joint 12 is between Box rear wall 19 and lid rear wall 20 is formed.

In a special way, side walls of the package are formed, namely box side walls 24 and lid side walls 25. The opposing box side walls 24 are formed coincident. The same applies to the lid side walls 25, which coincide with respect to the contour with the box side walls 24.

The side walls 24, 25 are designed as outwardly directed polygonal pull with a plurality of pointed (outer) angle 26 facing each other strip-shaped wall sections 27, 28, 29. The middle wall section 29 is transversely directed, namely transversely to the front wall 17, 22 or to the rear wall 19, 20. In the region of the wall section 29 side tabs of the blank, namely front box side tabs 30 and the box rear wall 19 associated side tabs 31 are interconnected, in particular by gluing. Likewise, front lid side flaps 32 are connected to rear side flaps 34 in the region of the lid. The side flaps 30..33 are associated with associated front and rear walls of the package, namely with box front wall 17, box rear wall 19, lid rear wall 20 and lid rear wall 22. The side tabs 30..33 are in terms of dimensions and Design aligned to the shape of the side walls 24, 25. Each side flap 30..33 is divided into several, here in three strips of material, namely the formation of the wall sections 27, 28 and with an outer edge portion 34 and an outer edge portion 34 and an inner edge portion 35 in the region of all side flaps 30..33. The material strips 27, 28 and 34, 35 are marked in the region of the side tabs 30... 33 by a corresponding number of parallel fold lines 36. These are in particular embossing lines, but possibly also material weakening due to surface perforations, etc. The fold lines 36 are designed so that they each define pronounced fold edges 37 in the finished package.

The edge legs 34, 35 are preferably formed in the same width as the wall portions 27, 28. In full-surface, exact coverage of the associated edge legs 34, 35 results in a (double-layered) middle wall portion 29, which has the same width as the wall portions 27th , 28. In the embodiment shown, the edge legs 34, 35 are positioned with a slight offset to each other, so that a free edge 38 of the outer edge leg 34 is slightly set against an adjacent folding edge 37, such that the peripheral edge 38 does not have a (imaginary) plane in continuation of the plane of the adjacent wall portion 28 protrudes (dash-dotted line in Fig. 6 ). The middle wall section 29 thereby has a greater width than the adjacent wall sections 27, 28.

Another special feature is the training of corner lobes. Floor corner tabs 39 are disposed on the inner edge legs 35 of the box side walls 24 and lid corner tabs 40 on the corresponding inner edge legs 35 of the lid side walls 25. The corner tabs 39, 40 abut the associated transverse walls, namely on the one hand on the inside of the bottom wall 18 and on the other hand on the end wall 21. The corner tabs 39, 40 are consistently formed in a particular shape. A flap edge 41 directed outwards in the unfolded blank has a polygonal-like contour with three edge sections adjoining a transverse fold line 42 whose dimensions are adapted to the dimensions of the wall sections 27, 28. An edge portion 43 abuts on the box front wall 17 and on the lid front wall 22 on the inside. The adjacent edge portions 44 abut respectively on the package front side facing wall portions 27, 28. The corner tabs 39, 40 bring about an additional stabilization of the packing in the area of the side walls 24, 25.

The collar 13, the collar front wall 14 rests against the inside of the box front wall 17, is formed in the region of the collar side tabs 15, 16 so that a matching, positive fit on the inside of the box side walls 24 and in the closed package the lid side walls 25 is given. The lid side flaps 15, 16 are provided with fold lines 45, in particular with embossing or perforation lines, which cause a polygonal folding of the collar side flaps 15, 16. The strips of material formed thereby are fitting on the inside of the wall sections 27, 28, 29 of the box part 10 ( Fig. 5 ). The collar side tabs 15, 16 are dimensioned such that they extend beyond the middle of the package or over the middle wall sections 29, namely with an edge strip 46 in the region of the wall section 28 assigned to the rear side of the package a flap 47 formed essentially by a C-shaped punching is not arranged in the region of an inside fold line 45 adjoining the collar front wall 14 or in the region of a fold edge formed by the latter, but in the region of an adjacent fold line (FIG. The lower and upper packing walls, namely bottom wall 18 and end wall 21, are adapted to the contour of the pack. Package contents are a group of cigarettes 49. These are formed in a special way while adapting to the contour of the pack. The cigarettes 49 are arranged in transverse rows 50, 51, wherein the peripheral row 50, which faces the side walls 24, 25 of the pack, consists of two adjacent cigarettes and the adjacent row 51 of three cigarettes. The cigarettes 49 of adjacent rows 50, 51 are offset from one another, ie "in a saddle position". It is also possible a formation with three or 4 cigarettes 49 per row 50, 51 with appropriate dimension of the pack.

The cigarettes 49 are arranged in a pack stabilizing formation. The two cigarettes 49 of the outer row 50 abut against wall portions 28, adjacent to the central wall portion 29. The outer cigarettes 49 of the adjacent row 51 abut the front walls 17, 22 on the one hand and the rear walls 19, 20 on the other hand, in one area adjacent to the edge-side wall portion 27. Further rows 51 of three adjacent cigarettes 49 are formed in the central region of the package, in the embodiment according to Fig. 5 on both sides of an (imaginary) middle transverse plane.

The cigarette group is expediently surrounded by an inner blank 52 made of paper, tinfoil or the like.

The geometry of the package in the region of the side walls 24, 25 is based on FIGS. 7 and 8 explained with reference to the present embodiment. Thereafter, there is a correlation between the width of the wall sections 27, 28, 29, designated on the one hand, and their inclination angle 26. For the embodiment shown, this angle 26 is 30 °. This results in a radial angle 53 same size. This defines the angular distance between imaginary radial planes from folding edge 37 to folding edge 37 of a wall section 27..29. The offset y repeats within the package when the wall sections 27, 28, 29 are assigned inner circles 54, 55 as (imaginary) size. The inner circles 54, 55, on which the wall sections 27, 28, 29 abut exactly tangential, are offset with respect to the circle center to each other due to the offset y on the one hand and the material thickness t on the other. By means of these geometrical correlations, the exact shape of the packing or the side walls 24, 25 can be determined as a function of variable variables, such as material thickness t, diameter of the cigarettes d, in order to represent the special polygonal shape of the side walls.

Claims (7)

1. A cigarette pack of the hinge-lid type with a box part (10), lid (11) and collar (13) which preferably consists of a separate blank, wherein the box side walls (24) and lid side walls (25) comprise wall strips or wall portions (27, 28, 29) which are formed in a polygon-like manner and are directed at an obtuse angle to one another, of which central, transversely directed wall portions (29) consist of interconnected border flaps which are transversely directed with respect to the front side and rear side of the pack, wherein the box side walls (24) and lid side walls (25) correspondingly consist of five wall portions (27, 28, 29) adjoining one another at obtuse angles, wherein at both sides of the central transversely directed wall portion (29) there are arranged in each case two wall portions (27, 28) directed at an angle to the central wall portion (29) and to one another, characterized by the following features:

   a) all the wall portions (27, 28, 29) are directed at identical angles to one another, namely at an (external) angle (26) of 30°,

   b) all five wall portions (27, 28, 29) are designed with the same width (x),

   c) corner flaps, namely bottom corner flaps (39) on the one hand and lid corner flaps (40) on the other hand, are arranged on a marginal material strip of inner side flaps (31, 33) of the box part (10) and of the lid (11), particularly on border legs (35), wherein the corner-flaps (39, 40) have an outer contour which is adapted to the contour of the side walls (24, 25), namely having an outwardly directed flap edge (41) with a plurality of partial edges arranged at an angle to one another corresponding to the relative position and dimension of the wall portions (27, 28, 29) in such a way that the flap edge (41) bears positively in a supporting manner on wall portions (27, 28) and on a partial region of the box front wall (17) and of the lid front wall (22),

   d) a group of cigarettes (49) as pack contents forms a formation having transversely directed rows (50, 51), with a marginal row (50), assigned to the side walls (24, 25), of two cigarettes (49) situated next to one another in the transverse direction and with an adjacent row (51) of three cigarettes (49) situated next to one another with an offset arrangement to the cigarettes of the adjacent row (50), wherein furthermore the cigarettes (49) of the marginal row (50) bear on wall portions (28) adjacent to the central wall portion (29), and wherein cigarettes (49) of the adjacent row (51) consisting of three cigarettes (49) bear on the front wall (17, 22), adjacent to a wall portion (27).

The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the central, transversely directed wall portion (29) consists of two mutually overlapping and interconnected border legs (34, 35) of box side flaps (30, 31) and lid side flaps (32, 33), wherein the border legs (34, 35) are arranged with a slight offset (y) to one another in such a way that an outer free border edge (38) of the border leg (34) does not project beyond an (imaginary) plane of the directly adjacent wall portion (28).
3. The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 1 or one of the further claims, characterized in that the width of the wall portions (27, 28, 29) and/or of the border legs (34, 35) is determined as a function of the diameter (d) of the cigarettes (49) and of the thickness (t) of the packaging material.

The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 1 or one of the further claims, characterized in that the collar (13) consisting of a separate blank forms a collar front wall (14) with collar side flaps (15, 16), wherein the collar side flaps (15, 16) have foldable material strips which are defined by folding lines (45) and which bear in a fitting manner on the inner side of wall portions (27, 28, 29).
5. The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 4 or one of the further claims, characterized in that the collar side flaps (15, 16) have a border strip (46) which projects away beyond the region of the central wall portion (29) and which bears in particular with its full surface on a border strip (28).

The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 4 or one of the further claims, characterized in that a tab (47) formed by C-shaped punching is assigned as a closure aid for the lid (11) in the region of a folding line (45) of the collar side flaps (15, 16) which is set back from the box front wall (17), in particular a central folding line (45).
7. The cigarette pack as claimed in claim 1 or one of the further claims, characterized in that a bottom wall (18) and/or an end wall (21) has a free edge facing the side walls (24, 25) which is formed as a polygonal chain, with edge sections (48) which are arranged at an obtuse angle to one another and which bear in a fitting manner on the wall portions (27, 28, 29) of the side walls (24, 25).
