Abstract

Description

Field of the invention

The present invention relates to a protective device for a helmet. The protection device is an additional ballistic protection or overprotection.

Prior art

It is known to use a standard helmet that does not stop the balls and add overprotection. So the user does not need to bring a standard helmet or a helmet with integrated ballistic protection depending on the circumstances.

It may also be necessary to equip the standard helmet with a removable accessory such as night vision binoculars. In this case the standard helmet must have a fixing device for the removable accessory which cooperates with an external shell of the standard helmet.

In order to simultaneously mount the over-protection and the removable accessory, over-protection has been designed with stalls in their contours or through openings for the installation of the fixing devices.

This arrangement is satisfactory in the sense that an over-protection and a removable accessory can simultaneously equip a standard helmet.

However, bypassing the device for fixing the removable accessory has the consequence of creating a zone of ballistic weakness in which no ballistic protection is provided.

This area of ballistic weakness can be problematic, especially when night vision binoculars are used. Indeed in this case the area of ballistic weakness is facing the forehead of the user.

The present invention aims to solve all or part of the drawbacks mentioned above.

Statement of the invention

To this end, the present invention relates to a protection device comprising a protection wall shaped to cooperate with an outer shell of a helmet in a cooperation position so as to generate additional ballistic protection, the protection device having a location for cooperation arranged to cooperate with a removable accessory of the helmet in a mounted position of the removable accessory, the cooperation location being provided in the protective wall, a cooperation portion of the protective wall and / or a through opening in the protective wall facing the cooperation location, the protection device comprising a solid reinforcement plate, the reinforcement plate being arranged to cooperate with the cooperation location in a reinforcement position in which the reinforcement plate is next to the cooperation portion and / or the transverse opening ante.

Thus, the reinforcing plate is arranged opposite the cooperation location so as to compensate for the zone of ballistic weakness due to the presence of the cooperation location.

Indeed, the cooperation location is provided in the ballistic protective wall which implies that the cooperation portion has a thickness less than that of the rest of the protective wall. In addition, the through opening creates an unprotected area.

The protection device thus allows the removable accessory to be attached to the helmet without the ballistic protection being impacted. The protection device can also be used without accessories and provide complete protection when the reinforcement plate is placed in the reinforcement position.

According to one aspect of the invention, the cooperation location is shaped so that the reinforcing plate is in the reinforcing position and the removable accessory is in the mounted position at the same time.

Ballistic protection is thus optimal with and without removable accessory when the ballistic reinforcement plate cooperates with the ballistic protection wall.

According to one aspect of the invention, the reinforcing plate cooperates in surface fashion with at least part of the cooperating wall in the reinforcing position.

This arrangement makes it possible to produce a compact construction of the assembly comprising the protection device and the helmet accessory in the mounted position.

According to one aspect of the invention, the reinforcement plate extends along a reinforcement plane and has a closed contour in the reinforcement plane, an orthogonal projection of the cooperation portion and / or of the through opening on the plane reinforcement having an outer contour corresponding substantially to the closed contour.

In other words, with respect to the reinforcement plane, an area of the reinforcement plate corresponds substantially to an area projected orthogonally from the cooperation wall and / or from the through opening.

This arrangement makes it possible to fill with precision the zone of weakness generated by the location of cooperation provided in the protective wall. Indeed, outside the cooperation location, the protective wall protects against bullets and over the extent of the cooperation location the protective plate protects against bullets.

According to one aspect of the invention, the cooperation location has at least one shoulder surface formed in the protective wall and being transverse to an extension plane of the cooperation portion, the shoulder surface being arranged for cooperate with the removable accessory in the mounted position and / or to cooperate with the reinforcement plate in the reinforcement position.

The fact that the cooperation portion and the shoulder surface are transverse allows good retention in position of the removable accessory and / or of the reinforcement plate.

Furthermore, a compact assembly can be achieved because the same surface, the shoulder surface, cooperates with both the removable accessory and the reinforcement plate. It therefore appears that the addition of a reinforcing plate does not prejudice the mounting of the removable accessory and does not generate additional bulk.

According to one aspect of the invention, the reinforcement plate in the reinforcement position is disposed between the removable accessory in the mounted position on the one hand and the cooperation portion and / or the through opening on the other hand.

This arrangement allows optimal protection in the sense that the reinforcement plate is located just behind the removable accessory in the mounted position and compensates for the absence of ballistic protection material generated by the location of cooperation.

According to one aspect of the invention, the reinforcing plate comprises steel.

This arrangement makes it possible to design a reinforcing plate of reduced thickness resistant to bullets and thus to design a compact protection device.

According to one aspect of the invention, the protective wall comprises a plurality of layers of polyethylene.

The protection device obtained thus has good bullet resistance. According to one aspect of the invention, the plurality of polyethylene layers is obtained by pressing in a mold. This arrangement makes it possible to obtain a compact and resistant protective wall.

According to one aspect of the invention, the protection device further comprises a system for detachably holding the reinforcement plate in the reinforcement position.

This arrangement makes it possible to add or remove the reinforcement plate from the cooperation location in a simple manner.

According to one aspect of the invention, the removable holding system comprises a latching mechanism. Installation or removal is thus facilitated.

According to one aspect of the invention, the protection device further comprises a system for fixing the protection wall arranged to detachably hold the protection wall to the outer shell of the helmet in the cooperation position.

This arrangement makes it possible to easily set up and remove the protection device. Thus it is easy for the user to remove the protection device regardless of whether the reinforcing plate is arranged in the reinforcing position or not.

According to one aspect of the invention, the fastening system comprises a hook capable of cooperating with an edge of the helmet in the cooperation position.

This arrangement enables manual installation of the protection device in the cooperation position.

According to one aspect of the invention, when the protection device comprises a removable holding system, at least part of the fixing system is arranged to be secured to the removable holding system, for example the hook.

This arrangement simplifies the construction of the protection device: it is thus possible to reduce the number of parts.

According to one aspect of the invention, the fixing system comprises a contact-holding element able to cooperate with a complementary element placed on the outer shell.

This arrangement facilitates the installation of the protection device on the outer shell and also its removal. According to one aspect of the invention, the contact holding element is part of a mechanical system of the textile hook and loop type, said mechanical system comprising the complementary element.

The present invention also relates to a protection system comprising a removable accessory of a helmet and a protection device as described above having a cooperation location arranged to cooperate with the removable accessory in a mounted position, the protection device comprising a reinforcing plate arranged to cooperate with the cooperating location in a reinforcing position.

The system thus obtained allows the attachment of a removable accessory while ensuring the over-protection of the helmet even behind the removable accessory in the mounted position.

The protection system thus has a dual function: securing a removable accessory and ballistic protection over the entire extent of the protection wall and the reinforcement plate.

The different non-incompatible aspects defined above can be combined.

Description with reference to figures

In the detailed description which follows of the figures defined above, the same elements or the elements fulfilling identical functions may retain the same references so as to simplify the understanding of the invention.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, a protection device 1 is arranged to be placed on an outer shell 3 of a helmet 5. The protection device 1 is an additional ballistic protection.

As illustrated in Figures 2 to 5, the protective device 1 comprises a protective wall 7 obtained by pressing in a mold a plurality of layers of polyethylene.

As also illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7, the protection device 1 comprises a solid reinforcing plate 9 made of steel extending along a reinforcing plane 11 and having a closed contour 13.

The protection device 1 has a cooperation location 15 formed in the protection wall 7 and arranged to cooperate with the reinforcement plate 9 in a reinforcement position as illustrated in FIGS. 2, 3 and 8.

A cooperation portion 17 of the protection wall 7 and a through opening 19 in the protection wall 7 are arranged opposite the cooperation location 15 as illustrated in FIG. 5.

The protective wall 7 also has a shoulder surface 21 formed in the protective wall 7 and being transverse to an extension plane 23 of the cooperation portion 17.

It thus appears that in the reinforcement position the reinforcement plate 9 cooperates in surface fashion with the cooperation portion 17 and that an orthogonal projection 25 on the reinforcement plane 11 has an external contour 27 corresponding substantially to the closed contour 13.

The orthogonal projection 25 of the shoulder surface 21 also corresponds to the external contour 27. In the reinforcement position, the reinforcement plate 9 is thus facing the cooperation portion 17 and the through opening 19.

The cooperation location 15 is also arranged to cooperate with a removable accessory 29 of the helmet 5 in a mounted position. They can be binoculars with night vision.

Thus when the reinforcement plate 9 is in the reinforcement position and the removable accessory 29 in the mounted position, the reinforcement plate 9 is disposed between on the one hand the removable accessory 29 and on the other hand the cooperation portion 17 and the through opening 19.

As illustrated in Figures 6 and 7, the protective device 1 comprises a removable holding system 31 of the reinforcing plate 9 in the reinforcing position, said system 31 comprising a latching mechanism operable by hand or by means of 'A tool according to alternative embodiments.

As illustrated in Figures 1 and 8, the protective device 1 further comprises a fixing system 33 of the protective wall 7 arranged to detachably hold the protective wall 7 and the outer shell 3 in a cooperation position.

The fixing system 33 comprises a contact-holding element 37 able to cooperate with a complementary element placed on the outer shell 3.

In the embodiment presented, it is a type of hook-and-loop type cooperation, that is to say by mechanical fastening of the hooks and textile loops type.

Thus, the contact holding element is a part of a mechanical system of the textile hook and loop type, said mechanical system comprising the complementary element. The contact holding element 37 is arranged over the entire internal surface of the protective wall 7. A more limited zone could also be defined to limit the size of the contact holding element 37.

In addition, the fixing system 33 may comprise a hook 45 capable of cooperating with an edge 47 of the helmet 5 in the cooperation position as illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7.

It also appears in Figures 6 and 7 that the hook 45 is integral and constitutes a single piece with a part of the removable holding system 31, this arrangement making it possible to reduce the number of pieces.

A helmet 5 can therefore be equipped with a protection system comprising the protection device 1 and the removable accessory 29. The protection system therefore makes it possible to ensure effective ballistic protection since the entire extent of the protection wall 7 and the reinforcing plate 9 is protected 5 while allowing the simultaneous attachment of a removable accessory 29.

Also the protection device 1 can be used without a removable accessory 29 and provide optimum protection when the reinforcement plate 9 is placed in the reinforcement position.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the single embodiment 10 described above by way of example, on the contrary it embraces all of the variant embodiments thereof.

Protection device (1) comprising a protection wall (7) shaped to cooperate with an outer shell (3) of a helmet (5) in a cooperation position so as to generate additional ballistic protection, the device protection (1) having a cooperation location (15) arranged to cooperate with a removable accessory (29) of the helmet (5) in a mounted position of the removable accessory (29), the cooperation location (15) being provided in the protective wall (7), a cooperation portion (17) of the protection wall (7) and / or a through opening (19) in the protection wall (7) facing the cooperation location (15), the protection device (1) comprising a solid reinforcement plate (9), the reinforcement plate (9) being arranged to cooperate with the cooperation location (15) in a reinforcement position in which the plate reinforcement (9) is opposite the po cooperation part (17) and / or through opening (19). 2.
