Abstract

1.042,727. Reinforcement spacer. F. W. BERRY. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 21, 1963], No. 46002/63. Heading E1V. A reinforcement spacer moulded from a synthetic plastics material has one or more apertures 5 additional to the reinforcement receiving opening2 and bysuitablyproportioning the width of the ribs 3 and of the frame portions 1, 4 and 5, is provided with shoulders or steps between the opening 2 and that part of the periphery of the spacer which is intended to be located at a surface of the concrete in which the spacer is embedded, thereby overcoming the tendency for moisture to seep towards the reinforcement, between the concrete and the spacer. The reinforcement (not shown) is held in the opening 2 by flaps 6 which may cross each other, or which may have their free ends aligned, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) which may have their free ends spaced apart, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown). The flaps in the embodiments of Figs I and 2 (not shown) and Fig. 4 are offset with respect to each other along the longitudinal axis of the opening 2.
