Abstract

1,028,215. Reciprocating electric motors. MORPHY RICHARDS (CRAY) Ltd. Jan. 27, 1964 [Feb. 2, 1963], No. 4350/63. Heading H2A. A vibratory motor, e.g. for a dry-shaver, is dynamically balanced by causing the armature and electromagnet to rock in anti-phase by means of a mechanical linkage which produces motion of each in inverse relation to its inertia. The electromagnet 1, 2 together with a mounting frame 5, are pivoted at 8, while the armature pivots on a pin 6 projecting from the frame. A spring-loaded bridge 10 has knife-edge bearings engaging the casing at 11 and a projection from the armature bearing 12, to produce the rocking motion of the electromagnet. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the electromagnet rocks on ball or roller-bearings running in tracks concentric with its pivotal axis, instead of the pivot, and the armature is linked to the casing by a metal tape.
