Abstract

1,110,674. Shearing. P. COLLY. 7 May, 1965 [22 May, 1964], No. 19360/65. Heading B3W. In a reciprocating shear the movable blade slides in guides which are pivotally mounted on the shear frame and which are movable to adjust the cutting clearance between the blades by self-holding adjusting means. The movable blade 3 is mounted on a holder 2 which is held against guides 4 at each side of the shear by spring pressure or fluid cylinder means 5. The guides 4 are mounted on pivots 8 and are acted on by shoes 9 which each have a bore housing an eccentric 11. These eccentrics are mounted on a common shaft 12 which is rotatable by a screw-operated lever 14 or by a hand wheel and gearing. The slope of the movable blade relative to the fixed blade is controlled by two hydraulic cylinders 23, 24 connected to a flap valve 15, the position of which is adjusted by a lever 16 actuated by the screw 19 which rotates the lever 14, so that both the clearance between the blades and the slope of the movable blade are adjusted simultaneously. The slope-adjusting mechanism is fully described in French Specification 1,404,664.
