Abstract
1,202,821. Triacetin preparation. W. R. GRACE & CO. 2] Jan., 1969 [11 April, 1968], No. 3342/69. Heading C2C. Triacetin is prepared by reacting a liquid phase comprising allyl acetate, acetic acid and acetic anhydride with a gaseous mixture consisting essentially of free oxygen and an inert gas in the presence of a catalyst consisting essentially of (i) acetate ions, (ii) lithium ions, (iii) cupric ions, (iv) chloride ions and (v) ions of one of the group VIII noble metals at a temperature of 25-200‹ C. under a pressure of 1-500 atmospheres absolute. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 987,278 and 1,140,105.
