Abstract

1,206,936. Escape shoots; inflatable craft. RFD-GQ Ltd. 17 Nov., 1967 [17 Nov., 1966], No. 51583/66. Headings B7A and B7J. An escape shoot which may also act as a life raft comprises a flexibly floored rectangular inflated enclosure upwardly curved at one end and provided at its middle with additional stabilizing tubes 5 or 10 which are inflated seprately from the main section. One end of the shoot may be connected by trunnions 3 to an aircraft and is arranged so that a stream of liquid or foam from the fire prevention system may be directed down the shoot and the shoot may be provided with a perforated hose for distributing liquid or foam on to the ground in the vicinity of the shoot. In modifications, Figs. 5, 6 and 8 (not shown), and Fig. 7 the side tubes are formed without upturned end sections and the slide width is doubled and provided with a central longitudinal tube 9 so as to form two side by side slides. In this embodiment a second assembly of side and transverse inflatable tubes 11 and (12) is provided on top of the tubes 1 and 2 to stiffen the whole structure. The tubes 5 and 10 when deflated are held close against the side tubes by inflation pressure releasable tabs 6 and press studs 7.
