Abstract

1,221,912. Drawing filaments. SOC. RHODIACETA. 20 May, 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 25776/69. Heading B5B. [Also in Division D1] A bundle of synthetic filaments is drawn by passage through a funnel comprising a frustoconical portion 1 and a tubular portion 2 into the outlet tube 5 of a chamber 3 fed with compressed gas through a plurality of inlets 4, the function of chamber 3 and tube 5 being of rounded form and tube 5 having at its end a divergent section 6 and a thin tubular section 7. The tube may flatten gradually towards its outlet. The ratio of annular area between tube 5 and tube 2 to area within tube 5 may be 0À1-0À6. The gas may be air, nitrogen or steam. The filaments may be of polyethylene terephthalate.
