Abstract

1371051 Packaging apparatus KRAFTCO CORP 21 Aug 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 33910/71 Heading B8C Apparatus for packaging individual slices of cheese comprises a conveyer 18 carrying a continuous row of spaced slices 20, to meet transparent wrapping material 14 supplied from roll 30 by way of cuff folder 34 and drive roller 48, the material 14 being wrapped round the slices from above by the action of a trapezoidal forming face 56 and device 16 to form a tube with the cuffed edge overlaying the uncuffed edge, and transverse heat-sealing means 22 and cutter means 24, 156. Device 16 has an elongated block 68 notched at 73 to receive a roller 134 for pressing material 14 against cheese 20. Angled plate 80 with horizontal shelf 88, and a vertical plate 94, are secured to block 68 and provide the progressive wrapping movement of material 14. Wheel 116 is adjustably skew mounted beneath block 68 to nip material 14 against angled extension 110 of plate 94 so that a downward component of friction force tightens the material about the cheese. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification, 1,150,033.
