Abstract

1382643 Non-metallic heat responsive discharge head FIREMASTER EXTINGUISHER Ltd 12 Dec 1972 [7 Jan 1972] 927/72 Heading A5A A discharge head for fire extinguishing apparatus which operates automatically upon rupture or deformation of one or more heat sensitive elements e.g. liquid-filled bulbs or fusible links, within the head, has a body structure formed substantially entirely of a non-metallic material having a coefficient of thermal conductivity substantially less than that of any metal e.g. of a synthetic plastics material such as nylon or polyacetal. The body structure may be cage-like and arranged in surrounding relationship to the heat sensitive element(s) e.g. a pair of frangible liquid filled bulbs in end-to-end relationship, and may have an end portion defining an aperture closed by a plug maintained in position by the undeformed element(s) with the opposite end of the body having an adjusting screw for locating the element(s). The head may include a remotely controlled explosive device as described in Specification 1363945.
