Abstract

1330902 Pistons; connecting-rods HEPWORTH & GRANDAGE Ltd 8 Jan 1971 [21 Jan 1970] 3052/70 Heading F2T A piston 10 is formed integral with a connecting rod 11, the juncture 24 between the piston and rod being sufficiently flexible to allow the normal relative movement during operation. The connecting rod has parallel sides 17 and a big end 18 with a bore 19. The piston is formed on its crown with a sealing lip 13 and, on its lower part, with two diametrically spaced legs 25 each having a width the same as the connecting rod and a curved outer surface 22. The piston and rod are made by injectionmoulding from graphite-filled nylon and the piston may have a metal crown and working surface.
