Abstract

1451534 Piezoelectric igniters MANSEI KOGYO KK 31 Jan 1974 [23 Feb 1973 2 March 1973] 04461/74 Heading H2A In a piezoelectric igniter, pushing a movable casing part 3 into a fixed casing part 1 at first causes one arm 4b of each of two bodies 4 rotatably mounted on a hammer 6 to be pressed against a ramp surface 11a of a slot 12 in the part 1, and thereby causes the hammer to be retained in position as a spring 7 becomes increasingly compressed, but when the part 3 has moved sufficiently a part 10a engages a second arm 4a of each of the bodies 4 and rotates them about pivot points 4c, the arms 4b then being freed from the surfaces 11a and the spring 7 being released to propel the hammer 6 on to an element unit (2, Fig. 2, not shown). A portion 12b of the slot 12 guides the arms 4b during the movement of the hammer. On release of the part 3, a return spring 5 causes a projection (9, Fig. 2) on the part 3 to engage each arm 4a and thereby lift the hammer. When the surface 11a is reached, the bodies 4 rotate back to their original positions and a section 4b<SP>1</SP> of each arm 4b latches with a retaining part 11 of the slot 12. In the embodiment of Figs. 5-7 (not shown), a spring (106) aids the rotation of the two-armed bodies (105) back to their initial positions during the return movement.
