Abstract

1457874 Imitation solid-fuel fires; lamps PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Dec 1973 56320/73 Headings F4W and F4R A rotary flicker device for use in an imitation solid-fuel fire comprises a bearing 14, a first part 12 carrying a first set of blades tending to cause rotation in one direction and a separately formed second part 13 carrying a second set of blades of opposite pitch to the blades of part 12 to cause aerodynamic resistance to said rotation. The device is particularly for use with a low-friction bearing 14, e.g. one having a jewelled insert, to keep the rotational speed of the device within a predetermined range. The blades of part 12 are formed by cutting and bending to define apertures which extend radially or spirally from the bearing 14 or are of S-shape. The part 13 is cut and bent from sheet metal and includes two or more blades. Both parts 12, 13 have central openings fitted over and frictionally engaging the bearing 14. The device may be made of aluminium.
