Abstract

1483186 Biocide/wetting agent compositions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Sept 1974 [21 Sept 1973] 44379/73 Heading A5E [Also in Division C5] Aqueous wetting compositions contain one or more compounds of formula II:- wherein A is a divalent hydrocarbon radical, and X is an oxygen atom or an NH group, together with one or more condensates of one to four moles of ethylene oxide with a C 7 -C 15 aliphatic alcohol, and one or more cationic surface active agents. The compounds of formula II .may be caprolactone, γ-butyrolactone, caprolactam or methyl caprolactam. The compositions may contain biocidally-active materials such as I, 1'-dimethyl-4, 4'-bipyridylium chloride. The cationic surface active agent may be an alkyltrimethylammonium halide or alkyl pyridinium halide containing a C 8 -C 18 alkyl group.
