Abstract
1492427 Utilizing wave energy Y MASUDA H FUKADA and T IWATA 27 March 1975 12956/75 Heading F1S Apparatus for generating electrical power by water wave energy comprises a buoy 11 of a polygenal circular or V-shaped plan which has its largest dimension longer than the wavelength of the waves which the apparatus is intended to utilize, the buoy being provided with a plurality of downwardly open air chambers 17, 18, 20, 22 &c. which in use of the apparatus are closed by the water and electric power generators 36 are operated by variations of air-pressure within the air chambers caused in use of the apparatus by vertical motion of water within the chambers. The air chambers are arranged to operate in pairs with an air turbine 34, 35 driven electric generator 36 operatively disposed therebetween. Each chamber has one valve 33, 39 operable to the atmosphere and the two chambers of each pair utilize respectively rising and falling waves for operating the air turbines. The buoy may be rectangular. As shown in Fig. 1 the buoy 11 is flexibly moored to the sea bottom by many anchors 12.
