Abstract
1432396 Austenitic stainless steel ARMCO STEEL CORP 9 July 1973 32515/73 Heading C7A An austenitic stainless steel of composition:- such that % Ni + 30% N 2 + 27% C = 10 to 12 and wherein the nitrogen content is varied inversely from 0.16% to greater than 0.07% for nickel contents from 4% to 7% and from 0.07 to 0.01% for nickel contents from 7% to 10% said steel being fully austenitic in the wrought form and containing 2 to 5% ferrite in an arc-welded weld deposit. The steel may be melted in an electric furnace under air or vacuum conditions, vacuum degassed and poured into ingots or continuously cast into slabs. It may then be hot-worked and cold reduced into plate, sheet, strip, bar, rod or wire form.
