Abstract
1514529 Reducing NO x in exhaust gases MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 Nov 1975 [11 Nov 1974] 45666/75 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Nitrogen oxides are removed from an exhaust combustion gas by passing the gas through a zone at 700‹C. or above in presence of O 2 and feeding an ammonia source to the zone from a plurality of nozzles disposed at different positions in the crosssection of the gas passage. The ammonia source (a NH 3 or decomposable compound of NH 3 ) may be fed from nozzles in a linear or looped pipe jacketed in heat shielding means. In one embodiment, NH 3 is injected into an exhaust gas passage between a combustion chamber and a chimney of an industrial boiler, upstream of heat-exchange pipes. A flame intercepting refractory lattice may be interposed between the combustion plane and the NH 3 injection zone.
